Overview

Sakuranosho, part of the Kotohira Grand Hotel group, welcomes you to the historic town of Kotohira in Kagawa Prefecture. Located near the famous Kotohira Shrine, this ryokan blends modern elegance with traditional design. The hotel’s newest wing, Hatsune, draws inspiration from Kabuki theatre and offers a serene retreat with open-air baths and views of local landmarks like Konpira Shrine and Mount Sanuki Fuji. You’ll find refined spaces, exceptional hospitality, and relaxing hot springs that bring harmony to your stay.

Accommodation

The Hatsune wing features rooms with a calm, modern Japanese design and luxurious touches like private open-air baths using natural hot spring water. Some rooms include terraces where you can admire the changing seasons and the spiritual path to Konpira Shrine. Others offer wide windows that frame the scenery of Mount Sanuki Fuji.

Whether you choose a premium room for three, a deluxe suite for five, or a modern Japanese-Western room with a private garden, you’ll find everything you need for a restful experience. Each room comes with Simmons beds, spacious layouts, and a quiet atmosphere that encourages deep relaxation.

In-room amenities include a 50-inch TV, satellite channels, free internet, refrigerator, humidifying air purifier, coffee machine, and a full set of bath items. Yukata, slippers, and spa toiletries are also provided, along with a clean and minimalist bathroom stocked with high-quality shampoo, conditioner, and body wash.

Dining

Dining at Sakuranosho is an experience of its own. In the scenic dining room Ikiri, you’ll enjoy views of Kotohira and freshly prepared meals from the open kitchen. The head chef, Kazutaka Yamaguchi, crafts seasonal kaiseki meals that balance beauty and nutrition, often blending Western and Chinese influences into traditional Japanese presentation.

Dinner highlights include steak or sea bream grilled on the teppan right in front of you, handmade seasonal appetizers, fresh sashimi, and fragrant rice dishes. You can also enjoy local specialties like Sanuki udon served with a variety of toppings, including a signature curry version.

During summer and holiday seasons, the hotel also offers buffet-style dining with over 50 items, along with a special children’s buffet area.

Breakfast, served in the same beautiful setting, includes carefully selected regional dishes, light and satisfying to start your day.

Onsen and Wellness

The rooftop open-air baths give you a peaceful view of Konpira Shrine, letting you soak while taking in the atmosphere of the town. You’ll find different baths for men and women, each offering a calm, open space to enjoy the warm, mineral-rich water.

In the women’s open-air bath, you can enjoy a unique rose petal bath daily. The fragrance and natural warmth create a deeply relaxing experience that also leaves your skin feeling smooth.

The ryokan also features large indoor public baths and saunas. After a soak, enjoy a moment in the relaxation area, especially pleasant during spring cherry blossom season or the bright green of summer.
