Taisyoike Hotel sits at the edge of Taisho Pond, one of Kamikochi’s most iconic sights. Located right in front of the Taisyoike bus stop, the hotel offers immediate access to the trails and scenery of Japan’s celebrated Northern Alps. With a calm atmosphere and views of Mt. Yakedake reflected in the still waters of the pond, this hotel places you in the heart of nature from the moment you arrive.

The staff can hold your luggage before check-in, so you can start your Kamikochi adventure as soon as you get off the bus. In the evening, look up to see a night sky scattered with stars—on clear nights, the pond mirrors the stars, creating a view that feels almost otherworldly.

Accommodation

Taisyoike Hotel offers four types of rooms designed to match the surrounding environment. Choose from Japanese-style or Western-style rooms, with some looking out toward Taisho Pond and Mt. Yakedake. All rooms are non-smoking and come with air conditioning, free Wi-Fi, and a refrigerator.

The Deluxe Room is the most spacious, located on the third floor with panoramic views of the pond. It accommodates up to five people and includes a bath and toilet. Extra beds are added for larger groups.

The Superior Twin and Standard Twin rooms feature Western-style bedding and calm interiors. Some were renovated recently, adding a fresh look while keeping the design simple.

The Japanese Room includes traditional tatami flooring and futons. It gives you a more classic ryokan experience, perfect for relaxing after a day outdoors.

Please note that the hotel does not accept reservations for children under six.

Dining

The in-house restaurant, Lake View, lives up to its name. While you eat, you can gaze across the calm waters of Taisho Pond toward the mountain peaks beyond.

Breakfast and dinner are available for staying visitors, with meals served in the evening. If you plan to eat at the restaurant, let the hotel know in advance if you have any allergies or dietary restrictions.

During the daytime, walk-in visitors can enjoy the restaurant as a cafeteria. Light meals such as noodles, rice dishes, desserts, and drinks are available. The relaxed setting makes it easy to stop in between hikes or sightseeing walks.

Onsen and Wellness

While Taisyoike Hotel does not have a hot spring, it offers clean and spacious communal baths for men and women. These baths were renovated along with the restaurant and offer a quiet space to unwind after walking the trails of Kamikochi.

Please note that you must step over a small ledge to enter the bath area, and there are a few stairs leading into the bathrooms.

Guests with Tattoos

Since this hotel does not have an onsen with shared soaking spaces, there are no restrictions for visitors with tattoos using the communal bath areas.
