Yunokawa Onsen

Yunokawa Onsen is one of the oldest and most famous hot spring resorts in the region. The Yunokawa Onsen contain sodium chloride, which is said to alleviate various ailments, such as joint discomfort and fatigue. The onsen town is based near the scenic Hakodate Bay, providing you with stunning views of the sea while they soak in outdoor baths (rotenburo).

Yunokawa Onsen is close to popular places in Hakodate like the Morning Market, Goryokaku Park with its fort made of stars, and Mount Hakodate, which is considered one of Japan’s best views at night. The area is also home to a unique attraction: the Hot-Tubbing Monkeys, where Japanese macaques bathe in their own onsen during the winter months, delighting visitors.
