Dining

Your stay features seasonal flavors from the Sea of Japan, Lake Shinji, and the surrounding mountains. Enjoy:

  • Fresh seafood from Sakaiminato, including specialties like Matsuba crab in season.
  • Shimane Wagyu beef dishes from cattle raised in the prefecture’s natural pastures.
  • Lake Shinji’s famous Shichin—seven prized local catches: sea bass, whitebait, carp, eel, moroge shrimp, sweetfish, and shijimi clams. These appear in signature dishes such as shijimi clam rice porridge.

Menus change with the seasons to bring you the freshest local ingredients, and the chefs take pride in presenting dishes that are unique to Suitenkaku.

Onsen and Wellness

Relax in the ryokan’s “Enmusubi no Yu,” a hot spring drawn from 1,250 meters beneath the lakeshore. The sodium-calcium chloride and sulfate-rich water is known for leaving your skin smooth and warm.

Bath options include:

  • Women’s Hinoki open-air bath: Surrounded by the fragrance of cypress for a calming, forest-bathing effect.
  • Men’s rock open-air bath: A natural, stone-lined bath with an expansive view and refreshing atmosphere.
  • Aqua private spa: An exclusive ceramic open-air tub overlooking Lake Shinji, available only to staying guests.
  • Large indoor baths: Spacious, bright baths for a comfortable soak while gazing at the garden.

A post-bath lounge with massage chairs is also available for relaxation.
