Kawazu-Nanadaru Onsen

Kawazu-Nanadaru Onsen is a quiet hot spring area in Kawazu, on the Izu Peninsula in Shizuoka Prefecture. It lies along the route to the Kawazu Seven Waterfalls, in a wooded valley where the sound of running water is never far away. Compared with the larger resort towns of Izu, the atmosphere here feels more tucked away, with small inns and a setting shaped as much by the landscape as by the baths themselves.

Most people come for the combination of hot springs and easy walking through the falls area, where paths and bridges lead past a series of cascades in a narrow river gorge. It is a good place to slow down rather than rush through, especially if you like onsen towns that still feel close to nature. The appeal of Kawazu-Nanadaru Onsen is less about spectacle than about the simple rhythm of water, stone, and forest.
