Yumura Onsen

Yumura Onsen is a quiet hot spring town in northern Hyogo Prefecture, tucked into the inland hills not far from the Sea of Japan coast. It is best known for Arayu, the high-temperature spring at the center of town, where steam rises steadily and locals still use the naturally hot water for simple everyday cooking.

The appeal of Yumura Onsen lies less in spectacle than in its easy, lived-in rhythm. Traditional inns, public baths, and small streets give the town a relaxed feel, and it works well for travelers who prefer a slower pace and a hot spring destination with a strong sense of local life.
