Nagara Onsen is a hot spring area in Gifu City, set along the Nagara River. It is best known as part of the riverfront district below Mount Kinka, where traditional inns and hotels look out toward the water and the hilltop silhouette of Gifu Castle.
The area is less about a single resort town than about its setting: a stay here places you close to one of the river landscapes most closely associated with Gifu. It is also a natural base for exploring the city’s better-known sights, including the riverside promenade and the wider Nagara River area, which is especially atmospheric in the evening.
