Fugaku Gunjo is a luxurious ryokan with rooms that offer panoramic views of Mt. Fuji and Suruga Bay. But first, you will marvel at the water garden located at the entrance, created not just as a visual wonder but to symbolize your newly found connection with the surrounding waters.
Fugaku Gunjo boasts eight exclusive rooms, each equipped with a deck terrace and their own luxurious open-air bath. The highlight is the kaiseki dinner with a real focus on carefully selected local ingredients from the Kawaguchiko area.
Accommodation
Fugaku Gunjo offers a luxurious and exclusive accommodation experience with its suite of elegantly designed rooms. Each room has a spacious open-air bath that offers breathtaking views of Suruga Bay and Mount Fuji. These open-air baths are filled with mineral-rich hot spring water.
You can pick from the following room types:
- Niji no Hashi is a peaceful room with white and brown colors and furniture made of rattan.
- Kumo hiki offers a contemporary space in black and white for added elegance.
- Yama no Ne has a blend of black, white, and wood elements, this room includes a circular Hinoki bath.
- Nami no Kaze embraces a serene ambience with white and wood accents, creating a serene setting.
- Tsuki Matsu features the contrast of wood and leather for an elegant yet relaxing room.
- Umi no Oka combines black leather, steel, and rattan to create a resort-like space.
- Oki no ne has an open air bath made of natural granite. This is a more exotic space with colorful kilims.
- Shio Mitsu presents a luxurious space with black leather and chandeliers, offering an opulent setting.
For the ultimate comfort, all rooms feature custom-made beds from a brand favored by the royal family, with the option of traditional futons in the Japanese-style rooms.
Dining
The dining experience includes dinner and breakfast, with a focus on Japanese kaiseki cuisine infused with local Kawaguchiko ingredients. Dinner focuses on dishes prepared using wood, fire, and volcanic stone, with various local, seasonal ingredients.
Breakfast is traditional Japanese, and it includes rice cooked on a wood-burning kamado stove, vegetable soup, gratin with natto, and Jiyoran eggs.
Onsen & Wellness
All rooms at the Fugaku Gunjo come with their own private open air bath. There is no public bath available, but there is a spa where you can enjoy luxury treatments and body therapies. You can even book acupuncture and moxibustion services.
If you have tattoos, you can enjoy the private open air baths in your room.
Facilities
The Sky Moat Terrace is surrounded by greenery and clear skies. It’s a nice place to relax and enjoy nature.
The Water Garden Terrace has a blue-tiled water garden surrounded by traditional architecture, where you can take in the changing sky at different times of day.
The Bonfire Terrace allows you to experience the luxury of doing nothing and simply gazing at the flames while enjoying the passage of time in a relaxed atmosphere.
The spa offers a menu that includes facial treatments, mineral aroma body treatments, and body maintenance stretching, all designed to reset and rejuvenate both mind and body.

Fugaku Gunjo is the main star attraction, but just in case you’re thinking of staying for several nights, there are plenty of nature-infused activities nearby.
The Fugaku Gunjo is located on the Izu Peninsula, an area with stunning coastlines, lush mountainous terrain, and rich hot springs. It’s a great place for scenic drives or leisurely walks, offering views of the Pacific Ocean. The peninsula is also dotted with quaint towns and villages, each with its own charm.
