Overview

Hakone Verde no Mori gives you a spacious resort-style stay in the mountain scenery of Hakone. Set in the Ninotaira area, the property places you close to Hakone Kowakien Yunessun, with a free shuttle running between the hotel, Yunessun, and Gora Station during the day. This makes it easy to enjoy hot springs, sightseeing, and resort facilities without feeling far from Hakone’s main attractions.

This is a practical and relaxed choice when you want more space than a standard hotel room. Every room has its own hot spring bath, and you can also enjoy shared bathing areas, a spa-style bath facility, an indoor pool, a gym, table tennis, karaoke, and a restaurant with views toward the Hakone mountains. The stay works well for families, friends, longer stays, and group trips.

Accommodation

Hakone Verde no Mori offers room types across the East and West wings, with Japanese-Western, Western, and Japanese-style layouts. Every room includes a private unit bath with hot spring water from Ninotaira Onsen, so you can enjoy a soak in your own room at any time without using the shared baths.

The East Wing Japanese-Western rooms measure around 39 to 40 square meters and combine a 6-tatami Japanese room with twin beds. Larger East Wing Japanese-Western rooms measure around 56 square meters and add an 8-tatami Japanese room, twin beds, and a sofa area, giving you more room to relax together. The East Wing Western rooms measure around 42 to 44 square meters and include twin beds with a sofa set.

The West Wing also offers Japanese-Western rooms, with standard rooms around 41 square meters and larger rooms around 57 square meters. These rooms combine a Japanese room with twin beds, giving you both tatami space and Western-style sleeping comfort. The West Wing Western rooms measure around 41 to 43 square meters and include twin beds with a sofa area. The West Wing Japanese rooms measure around 39 to 43 square meters and feature a 12-tatami layout with a seating area, making them a good choice when you want a more traditional room style.

Rooms include free Wi-Fi, a kettle, and basic in-room equipment for a simple, comfortable stay. The private in-room hot spring bath is the biggest advantage, especially if you want quiet bath time without depending only on the public bathing areas.

Dining

Dining at Hakone Verde no Mori focuses on Japanese-style meals and seasonal ingredients. Dinner is served at the restaurant, where you can enjoy views toward Hakone’s outer rim mountains and, on clear days, even toward Sagami Bay. Restaurant use requires advance reservation by 17:00 the day before.

The Sekisho Kaiseki is the most generous course, with A4-ranked wagyu sukiyaki, whole simmered kinmedai, grilled abalone, and sashimi made with local fish from Sagami Bay. The Myoujou Kaiseki is a refined Japanese course with A4-ranked wagyu sukiyaki, local sashimi, seasonal kamameshi rice, and ingredients such as Hakone Seiroku Mishima vegetables.

The Souun Kaiseki focuses on a hearty 200-gram A4-ranked wagyu steak, seasonal kamameshi rice, vegetables, and fish dishes. It does not include raw sashimi, so it suits you well if you prefer not to eat raw seafood. The Mikuni Kaiseki is a weekday-only course from January 2026, centered on Hakone foothill pork loin in a light soy milk seafood broth, with local sashimi and seasonal kamameshi rice. Children’s dinner menus are also available for elementary school children and younger children.

Breakfast is usually a Japanese and Western buffet, served from 7:30 to 8:30. Depending on hotel circumstances, breakfast may be served as a Japanese set meal instead. During the summer season, dinner is usually served buffet-style rather than as the standard kaiseki courses.

Onsen and Wellness

Hot spring bathing is a major part of the stay at Hakone Verde no Mori. Every room has its own private hot spring bath, and you can also use the shared large baths and the spa-style bath facility in the West Wing.

The main public baths, Kintoki no Yu and Otome no Yu, are open from 5:00 to 10:00 and from 12:00 to 1:00 at night. The spring quality is a simple hot spring, classified as hypotonic, weakly alkaline, and high temperature. The water is associated with relief for autonomic nervous system imbalance, sleeplessness, and fatigue recovery.

The West Wing also has a larger spa-style bath facility called Liberty, which uses Hakone’s abundant hot spring water across nine bath types separated by gender. Liberty is open from 10:00 to 22:00 and is included in your stay. This gives you a more active bathing experience, especially if you want to enjoy different bath styles rather than only one large bath.

You can also use the indoor pool and gym in the West Wing. The gym is open from 10:00 to 21:00 and requires indoor exercise shoes. The indoor pool is open from 10:00 to 21:00 and requires a swim cap. Saturday hours may be extended.

Guests with Tattoos

Hakone Verde no Mori has shared public baths and an indoor pool, so you cannot use the large public baths or pool with tattoos. You can still enjoy hot spring water in your private in-room bath.

Facilities

Hakone Verde no Mori gives you more to do than a typical hotel stay while still keeping the experience easy to manage. You can enjoy the in-room hot spring bath, shared public baths, Liberty spa facility, indoor pool, gym, table tennis, karaoke, and the restaurant with mountain views. These facilities make the hotel especially useful when you want to spend time indoors between sightseeing, hot springs, and meals.

The hotel also has a small shop where you can buy souvenirs, ice cream, alcohol, and snacks. Free Wi-Fi is available in the rooms, and free parking is available for standard passenger cars. For meetings or group use, the hotel has a hall that can hold around 50 people with advance reservation. The automatic mahjong room is listed as suspended for the time being, so it should not be treated as an active facility.

Activities

Hakone Verde no Mori is well placed for both quiet resort time and Hakone sightseeing. You can walk to Hakone Kowakien Yunessun in about five minutes, making it easy to spend the day at the hot spring theme park, then return to your room for a more private soak. The free shuttle also connects you with Gora Station and Yunessun, so you can move around the area more easily during operating hours.

From the hotel, you can explore Hakone’s museums, mountain scenery, hot spring areas, and walking routes. The Hakone Open-Air Museum, Gora area, Owakudani, Lake Ashi, and the wider Hakone transport network are all good options depending on the pace you want. On days when you prefer to stay close, you can use the pool, gym, table tennis, karaoke, spa baths, and in-room hot spring instead.

Additional Features

Check-in is from 15:00 to 22:00, and check-out is by 10:00. Free parking is available for standard cars, with larger buses handled by advance reservation when space allows. If you arrive by public transport, you can take a bus from Hakone-Yumoto Station or Odawara Station and get off near Verde no Mori, or use the free shuttle from Gora Station.

The shuttle from Gora Station to Verde no Mori runs through Yunessun and usually operates every 20 to 30 minutes during the day, with the final shuttle from Gora Station to Verde no Mori listed at 16:40. Shuttle times may change depending on operating conditions, so you should check the current timetable before arrival.
