Overview
Hotel Regina Kawaguchiko gives you a Mount Fuji-view stay in the Fuji Five Lakes area, with hot spring bathing, Japanese dining, and easy access to Kawaguchiko sightseeing. Every room faces Mount Fuji, with the mountain rising beyond the forest of Aokigahara and no tall buildings blocking the view. The scenery changes beautifully through the year, from snow in winter to fresh green in spring and deep color in autumn.
The hotel completed a room renewal in 2024, bringing a fresher feel to its Fuji-view rooms. It also received the JTB Award 2023 Bronze recognition and placed 3rd in the Jalan Award 2023 “Good Place to Stay” overall ranking for Yamanashi accommodations with 51 to 100 rooms. This is a strong choice when you want a relaxed resort stay with views, hot springs, Japanese cuisine, and convenient access to Fuji-Q Highland, Lake Kawaguchi, and Mount Fuji sightseeing.
Accommodation
Every room at Hotel Regina Kawaguchiko faces Mount Fuji. From your balcony, you can enjoy a wide view across the forest toward the mountain, with the clearest views often seen from winter through early spring. The rooms range from simple twin and double rooms to larger family rooms, Japanese-Western rooms, and spacious top-floor suites.
Corner Suite Room The Fuji is the hotel’s most impressive room. Set on the top floor, this 118-square-meter corner suite gives you a 180-degree view of Mount Fuji over Aokigahara, and on clear days you may also see the Southern Alps from the living-side bay window. It is a maisonette-style room, with the bedroom on the upper level, making it a special choice when the view is the main reason for your stay.
Grand Comfort Quad Room is another top-floor option, measuring 123 square meters. It gives you a wide Fuji view, generous space, and a stronger sense of privacy for a small group or family. Grand Comfort Twin Room sits on the 9th and 10th floors and measures 51 square meters, with two semi-double beds and a more refined upper-floor atmosphere for two people.
The Mama-raku Kids Room is designed for stays with young children. This 51-square-meter room has two semi-double beds and a baby bed, with child-friendly fittings and useful items that make family travel easier. The Upper-Floor Deluxe Twin Rooms are on the 6th to 10th floors and measure 51 square meters, while the Deluxe Twin Rooms on the 4th and 5th floors offer the same room size with a comfortable layout for up to four people.
The Standard Twin Rooms measure 25 to 33 square meters and suit couples, friends, or small family stays. The Double Rooms measure 25 square meters and have one double bed. The Japanese-Western Rooms measure 66 square meters and combine beds with futon bedding, making them a good fit when you want both Western-style sleep and a more Japanese room atmosphere.
Rooms include a bathroom, washlet toilet, large LCD TV, refrigerator, Wi-Fi, phone, kettle, tea set, hair dryer, towels, bath towels, shampoo, conditioner, body soap, toothbrush set, razor, skincare items, yukata, slippers, and a humidifying air purifier. Baby beds, bed guards, irons, trouser presses, bath chairs, and wheelchairs can be borrowed or arranged depending on availability, with some items carrying a fee.
Dining
Dining at Hotel Regina Kawaguchiko focuses on traditional Japanese cuisine prepared by chefs with ryotei experience. The restaurant uses carefully made dashi and seasonal ingredients, giving dinner a refined but approachable feeling after a day around Mount Fuji or Lake Kawaguchi.
Dinner is served at Restaurant Jukai from 18:00 to 21:00, with last order 30 minutes before closing. Advance reservation is required. You can choose from several dinner styles, including the special kaiseki course Sansui no Kokoro, the monthly seasonal kaiseki course Shunka Shuto, a 90-minute shabu-shabu all-you-can-eat course with beef, pork, and vegetables, and a Fuji-shaped ceramic plate meal featuring beef fillet grilled on a ceramic plate.
Children’s meals are also available, including a special lunch-style meal with both Japanese and Western elements and a lighter children’s plate with familiar favorites. This makes dining easier when you travel with younger children but still want a proper Japanese dinner experience.
Breakfast is served from 7:00 to 10:00 and usually comes as a Japanese and Western buffet with more than 40 dishes. Depending on the booking situation, breakfast may be served as a set meal instead, with children’s meals prepared in a more Western-style format when needed.
Onsen and Wellness
The hotel’s hot spring bath uses water brought from the Lake Kawaguchi source, Shurei no Yu. The water contains calcium and sodium and is known locally as “wound bath” and “stroke bath.” It is associated with fatigue recovery, skin moisture, general wellness, relief for nerve pain, muscle pain, and sensitivity to cold.
The hot spring bath is free to use when you stay overnight. Bathing hours are from 6:00 to 11:00 and from 14:00 to 24:00, with cleaning between 11:00 and 14:00. The bath has five washing stations, so you may need to wait during busy times.
This is a shared public hot spring bath rather than a private onsen experience. If you prefer a quieter bath time, early morning or later evening will usually feel more relaxed.
Guests with Tattoos
Hotel Regina Kawaguchiko has a shared public hot spring bath, so you cannot use the public bath with visible tattoos. If you have tattoos, you can use the bath in your room instead.
Facilities
Hotel Regina Kawaguchiko keeps the stay comfortable with a lounge, souvenir shop, hot spring bath, tennis court, table tennis room, smoking room, vending machines, coin laundry, and free parking for standard cars. The lounge gives you a quiet place to pause on arrival or before departure, while the shop is useful for local souvenirs, snacks, and small items.
The tennis court and table tennis room add light activity to the stay, especially if you are traveling with family or friends. The tennis court can be reserved at the front desk, and rackets and balls are available to borrow, though tennis shoes are not provided. The coin laundry is useful for longer stays, outdoor sightseeing days, or family travel.
Activities
Hotel Regina Kawaguchiko works well as a base for sightseeing around Mount Fuji and Lake Kawaguchi. Fuji-Q Highland is about five minutes away by car, making the hotel especially convenient if you want to combine hot springs and theme park time. Lake Kawaguchi is about 15 minutes away by car, and the Mount Fuji 5th Station is about 45 minutes away by car, depending on season and road conditions.
Around Lake Kawaguchi, you can visit museums, ropeway viewpoints, flower parks, seasonal festivals, and Fuji-view photo spots. Spring brings Fuji cherry blossoms and azaleas, summer brings lavender and lake events, autumn brings the famous autumn leaves around the lake, and winter often gives you clearer views of Mount Fuji.
The hotel is also useful for family-friendly outings such as Fuji Safari Park, Kawaguchiko Music Forest Museum, Kawaguchiko Monkey Performance Theater, and Fuji Subaru Line sightseeing. After a day out, you can return for a hot spring soak and a quiet evening with the mountain view.
