Overview
Atagawa Ocean Resort places you on the eastern coast of the Izu Peninsula, with the Pacific Ocean stretching out in front of every room. You stay just a short walk from Izu-Atagawa Station, close to the beach, hot spring town streets, and coastal sightseeing. From your room, you can look toward Izu Oshima and the Izu Islands, listen to the waves, and enjoy the easy pace of a seaside onsen stay.
This oceanfront resort works well for a quiet break, a family trip, or a stay with your dog. You can soak in natural hot spring water, enjoy buffet or course dining with Izu ingredients, spend time by the pool, visit the café, or use the dog-friendly rooms and pet spaces. The atmosphere is casual, open, and made for slowing down by the sea.
Accommodation
Atagawa Ocean Resort has 75 rooms, and every room is oceanfront, non-smoking, and at least 39 square meters. Each room has a balcony, so you can step outside and take in the sea air while looking toward Izu Oshima and the Izu Islands. The rooms feel spacious for a coastal resort stay, with simple layouts that work well for couples, families, groups, and dog-friendly travel.
The Superior Twin and Superior Triple rooms measure 39.2 square meters and give you an open room with a balcony facing the ocean. The Superior Twin has two beds, while the Superior Triple has three beds. Both can add extra bedding when needed, so you have flexibility for a small group or family stay.
The High Floor Japanese-Western Room sits on the 7th to 10th floors and measures around 52 to 56 square meters. You have twin beds, a Japanese-style area with futon bedding, a living space, and a balcony with wide Pacific views. This room is a good choice when you want more space and a higher-floor view.
The Corner Deluxe Japanese-Western Room measures 57 square meters and is placed as one room per floor. You have a larger living space, three beds, futon bedding if needed, and big windows that bring the ocean closer. This room gives you a more elevated stay while still keeping the relaxed feel of the resort.
If you travel with your dog, you can choose a Dog Friendly Room with a view bath twin layout or a Dog Friendly Japanese-Western Room. The view bath twin room measures 41 square meters and lets you see Izu Oshima and the Izu Islands from the room bath. The Japanese-Western dog-friendly room measures around 52 to 56 square meters and gives you more space to stay together. Dog-friendly rooms have a dedicated entrance, and only dogs can stay as pets.
Rooms include a bath and toilet, individual air conditioning, TV, empty refrigerator, hair dryer, duvet, humidifying air purifier, safe, free Wi-Fi, HDMI connection, bath towels, hand towels, toothbrush set, shampoo, conditioner, body soap, samue-style pajamas, razor, cotton swabs, brush, and basic bath items. Baby items such as a baby bath, baby bed, bed guard, diaper bin, toilet seat, bottle-washing set, and step stool can be requested in advance, though numbers are limited.
Dining
Atagawa Ocean Resort gives you two dinner styles, so you can choose the mood of your evening. ATAGAWA BOLD KITCHEN on the 2nd floor serves Japanese, Western, and Chinese buffet meals in an oceanfront restaurant. Dinner includes seafood dishes that reflect the Izu coast, along with warm dishes, meat dishes, desserts, and child-friendly options. The buffet is a good fit when you want a relaxed meal with many small choices.
Ristorante Fiume Caldo on the 3rd floor serves course dining for dinner. From March 2026, the course menu features ingredients such as spiny lobster, Ashitaka beef, and carefully selected local produce. This is the better choice when you want a slower, more refined dinner during your stay.
Breakfast is served at ATAGAWA BOLD KITCHEN as a Japanese, Western, and Chinese buffet with around 70 dishes. You can enjoy local flavors such as grilled fish from Higashiizu, freshly grated Shizuoka wasabi rice, fluffy fried horse mackerel with Mishima takuan tartar sauce, Higashiizu-style meat fried rice, and Shizuoka tea ochazuke. Breakfast is served from 7:00 to 9:30, with final entry at 9:00. Dinner is served from 18:00 to 21:00, with last order at 20:30. Meal times may change depending on the day and level of occupancy.
The restaurant also supports family travel with a kids’ corner and a baby food corner. Dinner buffet is usually a 90-minute service, while breakfast is usually a 60-minute service. Menu cards show the seven major allergens, but the kitchen uses shared preparation areas, so you should take care if you have serious allergies.
Onsen and Wellness
Atagawa Ocean Resort uses natural hot spring water from Izu-Atagawa Onsen. The public bath and open-air bath use free-flowing spring water, with some added water for temperature control. The bath area gives you a simple, open way to enjoy Atagawa’s hot spring culture after time by the sea.
Atagawa Onsen is linked to the legend of Ota Dokan, who is said to have found the spring after seeing a monkey healing its injury in the river. Because of this story, the spring has long been known as a “miracle bath.” The water contains metasilicic acid, which is associated with smooth-feeling skin, and the spring quality is sodium chloride and sulfate hot spring water. The listed benefits include cuts, peripheral circulation concerns, sensitivity to cold, depressed mood, and dry skin.
The large public bath and open-air bath are open from 15:00 to 24:00 and from 6:00 to 10:00. You can use the baths from check-in until check-out. There is no sauna.
For deeper relaxation, RAWS STUDIO on the 4th floor offers body care, oil treatments, hot stone oil treatment, foot and leg care, head care, and detox steam options. It operates on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 17:00 to 22:00, with final reception at 21:00.
Guests with Tattoos
Atagawa Ocean Resort allows you to use the hot spring baths and pool if your tattoos are covered. Skin-cover sheets are sold at the 1st-floor shop and the 4th-floor café. You need to keep tattoos covered while using the public bath or pool.
Facilities
Atagawa Ocean Resort gives you useful spaces for a relaxed seaside stay without making the hotel feel overly busy. You can enjoy the oceanfront restaurant, natural hot spring baths, seasonal pool, Reef Break Café, shop, game corner, coin laundry, and free Wi-Fi throughout the property. The shop sells local products, souvenirs, ice cream, snacks, drinks, and small items, while the game corner gives you a casual indoor option with crane machines and coin games.
The pool area adds a resort feel during its operating season, with time to swim in the afternoon after check-in and again in the morning before checkout. Beside the pool, Reef Break Café serves French toast, fondant chocolate, pizza, cocktails, and other light items. The café can also be used without staying overnight, and takeout is available.
If you stay with your dog, you can use the natural-grass dog run beside the hotel entrance, the dog photo booth, and the seasonal dog pool. Dog-friendly rooms include pet items such as a cage, dog dishes, pet sheets, deodorizing spray, and a cleaning roller. The hotel does not take dogs into custody, so your dog stays with you in the dog-friendly room and approved pet spaces.
