Overview

Fuji Fumoto Forest Hotspring gives you a private glamping stay in Fujikawaguchiko, Yamanashi, near Lake Kawaguchi and the Mount Fuji area. You stay in a forest setting with only seven detached trailer cabins, each set inside its own private garden.

This is not a traditional ryokan. You do not stay in a tatami inn with shared baths or formal kaiseki dining. Instead, you get a private cabin, your own outdoor hot spring bath, your own tent sauna, an all-weather dining terrace, barbecue equipment, a fire pit, and a compact kitchen. The stay suits you when you want the freedom of a private villa with the added comfort of Kawaguchiko Onsen water.

The property opened in August 2022 and focuses on privacy. High walls separate each cabin garden, so you can spend time outdoors without sharing the space with another booking. You can soak, use the sauna, cook, barbecue, sit by the fire, and enjoy the forest air at your own pace.

Accommodation

You stay in a detached trailer-style suite cabin with space for up to six people. Each cabin has one double bed on the first level and four single beds in the loft area, making it suitable for couples, families, and small groups.

There are two main cabin styles. The Standard Suite Cabin has a private garden of around 200 square metres, while the Deluxe Suite Cabin has a much larger private garden of 444 square metres and is limited to one cabin. Both cabin types include a private open-air hot spring bath, private tent sauna, outdoor dining space, barbecue setup, fire pit, shower room, washlet toilet, kitchen, refrigerator, oven microwave, kettle, sofa, air conditioning, Wi-Fi, and an air purifier with humidifying function.

The cabin is designed for year-round stays. It has heating and cooling, strong insulation, soundproofing, floor heating, winter blankets, and seasonal heating equipment. The all-weather terrace lets you eat outside even when the weather changes, while the indoor space gives you a warm and practical place to rest.

Kitchen and dining equipment includes cookware, tableware, glasses, mugs, chopsticks, forks, spoons, knives, a frying pan, pot, hot sandwich maker, rice cooker, cooking utensils, kitchen paper, wrap, foil, and simple seasoning such as salt and pepper. Children’s tableware is also prepared.

Amenities include towels, bath mat, face and hand soap, hairdryer, shampoo, conditioner, body soap, hangers, green tea, and coffee. Items such as toothbrushes, hairbrushes, razors, slippers, roomwear, and some personal amenities are available from the check-in building, so you can take what you need after arrival.

Dining

Fuji Fumoto Forest Hotspring offers a flexible dining style. You can book a stay with ingredients prepared for you, or you can choose a room-only style and bring your own food for cooking and barbecue.

Dinner with ingredients focuses on glamping barbecue. The official menu includes A5-grade Japanese black beef sirloin steak, low-temperature cooked roast beef, herb lemon chicken, grilled seasonal vegetables, yakisoba, and shrimp and broccoli ajillo with baguette. Ingredients may change, and the same meal content is usually provided on later nights during a longer stay.

Breakfast with ingredients is a simple outdoor-style meal based around hot sandwiches. It includes bread, sliced cheese, tuna, selected ham, mayonnaise, salad, soup, and orange juice. You prepare and enjoy it in your own cabin space, giving the morning a relaxed and private rhythm.

If you prefer to cook for yourself, you can bring your own ingredients and use the kitchen, barbecue equipment, and dining terrace. The property provides barbecue equipment and cooking tools, but you need to bring your own extra seasonings beyond the simple items already supplied.

Meal-inclusive ingredients are delivered to the refrigerator in your cabin by the afternoon of check-in day. If you book dinner, you need to arrive by the evening cut-off time so you can prepare and enjoy the meal properly.

Onsen and Wellness

Every cabin has its own private open-air hot spring bath using Kawaguchiko Onsen water. You can use the bath freely from check-in until check-out, without sharing it with another booking and without following public-bath hours.

The property uses Shurei no Yu, also known as Fujikawaguchiko Town No. 3 Source. This is one of the newer Kawaguchiko Onsen sources. The water is classified as a calcium-sodium sulphate and chloride spring, with a source temperature of 25.2°C and a pH of 6.8. The spring is described as helpful for skin moisture and for warming the body gently during a quiet soak.

The listed bathing qualities include support for neuralgia, muscle discomfort, joint discomfort, frozen shoulder, motor paralysis, joint stiffness, bruises, sprains, chronic digestive concerns, sensitivity to cold, fatigue recovery, general health, cuts, burns, chronic skin concerns, and chronic women’s health concerns.

Each cabin also has a private tent sauna. You can enjoy self-löyly, then cool down in your garden area and breathe the forest air. The combination of hot spring bath, sauna, outdoor air, and private garden gives the stay its main wellness appeal.

The outdoor bath is supplied for hot spring bathing only. You wash in the cabin’s shower room before entering the open-air bath.

Guests with Tattoos

You can use the hot spring bath and tent sauna if you have tattoos. The open-air hot spring bath and sauna are private to your cabin, and Fuji Fumoto Forest Hotspring does not have shared public bathing facilities.

Facilities

Fuji Fumoto Forest Hotspring has seven private cabin gardens, each with its own trailer cabin, open-air hot spring bath, tent sauna, outdoor dining space, barbecue setup, garden table, and fire pit. The property also has a self check-in building, vending machines, coin laundry, charcoal and firewood vending equipment, Wi-Fi, and parking.

Self check-in takes place at the check-in building. The stay is designed with very little face-to-face contact, and payment is handled without cash. Check-out does not require a separate procedure.

Parking is available beside the stay, with space arranged by cabin. The property is fully non-smoking inside the trailer cabins, while smoking is allowed only on the deck space of each cabin. Pets cannot stay. Fireworks are not allowed, and barbecue or fire-pit use ends at night to keep the area quiet.

Activities

You can spend your stay almost entirely inside your private garden. Soak in the open-air hot spring bath, use the tent sauna, cook on the terrace, share a barbecue, sit by the fire pit, read inside the cabin, or enjoy the quiet forest setting without planning a busy schedule.

The location also makes it easy to explore the Fuji Five Lakes area. Lake Kawaguchi is one of the best-known lakes around Mount Fuji and offers lakeside walks, seasonal scenery, museums, cafés, cycling, and photo spots. Fuji-Q Highland is also within driving distance when you want a more active day.

Oshino Hakkai is another popular outing from the area, known for clear spring-fed ponds connected with Mount Fuji’s snowmelt. You can also visit local shops, viewpoints, parks, and restaurants around Fujikawaguchiko before returning to your private bath and sauna in the evening.

A car gives you the easiest way to move between the property, Lake Kawaguchi, Fuji-Q Highland, supermarkets, convenience stores, restaurants, and Mount Fuji sightseeing spots.

Additional Features

By car, the property is around seven to eight minutes from the main Fuji Yoshida or Kawaguchiko interchange routes. From Kawaguchiko Station, the property is around ten minutes by taxi.
