Overview

Nazuna Kyoto Nijo-jo is a luxurious tea-themed ryokan, just a few minutes from the famous Nijo Castle. This authentic accommodation is within a Kyoto style townhouse and has five different suites, inspired by different types of tea. Nazuna Kyoto Nijo-jo has been recognized in the MICHELIN Guide.

Accommodation

The accommodation features five tea-themed suites, each designed with traditional elements and some modern highlights to make it stand out. The suites—Gyokuro, Genmaicha, Maccha, Houjicha, and Bettei—can accommodate up to four guests, except for Bettei, which accommodates three people. Each suite includes a private open-air or semi-open-air bath, Simmons beds, and futons made by a long-established Kyoto bedding maker. The rooms are adorned with antiques and artwork by local artisans, offering a unique and culturally rich stay.

Dining

Guests at Nazuna Kyoto Nijo-jo can enjoy a seasonal Irori-style breakfast, which highlights the flavors of Japan. For dinner, the ryokan offers an excellent sukiyaki meal, featuring high-quality, locally sourced ingredients. You can decide if you want breakfast only or wish to opt in for the dinner as well.

Onsen & Wellness

Each suite at Nazuna Kyoto Nijo-jo comes with its own private open-air or semi-open-air bath, allowing you to enjoy a relaxing soak in complete privacy. In addition to these baths, the ryokan offers wellness treatments, including bodywork relaxation and oil-based lymphatic treatments, to soothe and rejuvenate both body and mind.

Guests with Tattoos

Nazuna Kyoto Nijo-jo provides a private bathing experience in each suite, so guests with tattoos can enjoy the onsen without concern.

Facilities

While the ryokan itself does not have extensive public facilities, the private baths in each suite and the unique tea-themed decor create an intimate and luxurious environment. There is no on-site parking, but nearby paid parking options are available.

Activities

Nazuna Kyoto Nijo-jo has a few cultural activities you can book in advance. You can order a kimono cultural experience and the staff will also help with your hair arrangements. The accommodation provides bodywork relaxation or oil-based lymphatic massages as well.
