Overview

KKR Numazu Hamayu places you beside Shige Coast, where you can enjoy views of Mount Fuji and sunsets over Suruga Bay. The seaside setting brings fresh air, the sound of the water, and an easy pace to your time in Numazu. You can choose a room facing the coast, Mount Fuji, the nearby hills, or a combination of sea and mountain scenery.

You stay around 20 minutes by local bus from JR Numazu Station. A complimentary shuttle also leaves Numazu Station at 3:00 p.m. when reserved in advance. The return service departs at 10:00 a.m. and stops at Numazu Imperial Villa Memorial Park and Numazu Port before reaching the station.

Fresh local food and hot spring bathing shape your stay. You can spend the day exploring the coast and Numazu Port, then return for a seasonal dinner and a soak in mineral-rich water brought directly from Atami.

Accommodation

You can choose from 34 rooms across nine room categories. The traditional Japanese rooms include ten tatami mats and either a view of Shige Coast or, in clear weather, a direct view of Mount Fuji. These rooms give you enough floor space to enjoy tea, relax on the tatami, and sleep on futon bedding.

The 26-square-metre Western room has two beds and looks toward the green slopes of Mount Shige. For more space, the 64-square-metre Japanese-Western room combines Japanese and Western areas with two beds. From this room, you may see Mount Fuji directly ahead and Suruga Bay to the left when the weather is clear.

The 72-square-metre Deluxe Room sits on a corner facing both the sea and Mount Fuji. You have separate Japanese and Western rooms, two beds, and generous space to relax together. The largest option measures 98 square metres and also combines Japanese and Western rooms, with front-facing views of both Mount Fuji and the water in suitable weather.

You can also stay in one of three detached rooms. Kiyora measures 68 square metres and features shoji lighting, a raised sleeping area, and an open layout suited to families or friends travelling together. Miyabi measures 52 square metres and combines Japanese details with soft indirect lighting, a partly enclosed sleeping space, and a massage chair. Yunagi also measures 52 square metres and includes a large low table, a tatami relaxation area, floor-level bedding, and decorative latticework that separates the room without making it feel closed.

The three detached rooms do not have private bathrooms, so you use the shared hot spring baths. Other room categories include a bathroom, and all rooms provide a refrigerator, television, hairdryer, heating and cooling, towels, toiletries, and free Wi-Fi. Every room is non-smoking.

Dining

Your meals focus on seafood, seasonal produce, and ingredients connected to Numazu and Shizuoka. Dinner takes place at Restaurant Shunsai, where the kitchen prepares Japanese courses using ingredients selected for the time of year.

The monthly Hamayu creative kaiseki plan gives you a comfortable amount of food and includes carefully selected sashimi. Other plans let you build your meal around local and regional specialities. Depending on your booking, you may enjoy a whole simmered kinmedai fish, Aitaka beef steak, fried horse mackerel, grilled turban shell, or a crisp kakiage made with sakura shrimp.

For a more elaborate dinner, the premium five-star kaiseki brings together Ise lobster sashimi, a whole simmered kinmedai, grilled abalone, Aitaka beef cooked on a ceramic plate, and seafood kamameshi. Menus and ingredients can change with the season and availability, so your meal may differ from the examples shown.

Dinner runs from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., while breakfast is served at Restaurant Shunsai from 7:30 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. Share any food allergies when you reserve. The kitchen will assist where possible, although some allergies or severe conditions may be difficult to accommodate safely.

Onsen and Wellness

The baths use natural hot spring water transported directly from a source within the grounds of KKR Hotel Atami. The water is classified as a sodium-calcium chloride spring. At the source, it measures 63.6°C with a pH of 7.31. The bathing system adds water, adjusts the temperature, and circulates the water.

The large and medium indoor baths feature tubs made with Izu stone. The bathing areas change between men and women in the morning and evening, giving you the opportunity to experience both during an overnight stay.

You can also soak outdoors beside a grove of pine trees. Rather than a direct open view across the bay, the open-air bath lets you feel the sea breeze and hear the sound of the waves through the trees. The baths provide a pleasant way to warm up and ease tired muscles after walking or sightseeing.

Both main bathing areas include a sauna, although there is no cold-water bath. The listed bathing indications include muscle and joint discomfort, sensitivity to cold, fatigue, bruising, and general health support.

You can use the baths until 11:30 p.m. and again from 6:00 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. Shampoo, conditioner, body soap, hairdryers, skincare products, combs, and other bathing items are available in the shared bathing areas.

Guests with Tattoos

KKR Numazu Hamayu has shared indoor and open-air hot spring baths so guests with tattoos cannot use these.

Facilities

You can relax in the first-floor lounge, where you will find large sofa seating, an ice machine, and massage chairs. The shop sells sweets, souvenirs, and items connected to Numazu and the Izu area. Restaurant Shunsai serves breakfast and dinner, while the Shiosai karaoke room can accommodate groups and operates by reservation until 10:00 p.m. A children’s playroom sits on the second floor, and the outdoor footbath gives you a place to sit while watching the evening sky.

The property also includes banquet space, a meeting room, drink and alcohol vending machines, a microwave, a complimentary washing machine, and an outdoor drying area. There is no clothes dryer. A designated smoking space is available on the first floor, while all other indoor areas remain non-smoking.

You can bring a dog or cat on your trip by reserving the separate Pedream pet house. Animals stay in a secure building outside the main accommodation area rather than inside your room. The pet house includes locked stainless-steel cages, ventilation, climate control, a sink, and a warm-water shower. Advance conditions and additional charges apply.

Activities

You can start with a walk near Shige Coast, relax in the outdoor footbath, or book the karaoke room for the evening. The seaside location also makes it easy to spend time around Numazu Port, where you can find seafood restaurants and shops selling local dried fish.

Numazu Imperial Villa Memorial Park is around one minute away by car. Numazu Port and the Numazu Deep Sea Aquarium are both around 12 minutes away. You can reach Izu Mito Sea Paradise in approximately 15 minutes and Izu Panorama Park in approximately 18 minutes.

For a longer outing, Kakitagawa Springs is around 20 minutes away, while Mishima Skywalk is around 30 minutes away. These nearby destinations let you combine seafood, coastal scenery, Mount Fuji views, aquariums, historic buildings, and outdoor sightseeing during the same stay.

Additional Features

You can check in from 3:00 p.m. and check out by 10:00 a.m. Free parking is available for up to 69 vehicles, with space for large buses when arranged in advance. You also receive free Wi-Fi in every room and access to the complimentary station shuttle when you reserve a seat beforehand.

KKR Numazu Hamayu welcomes general travellers as well as eligible KKR members. You do not need to belong to a government mutual-aid association to make a standard reservation.

Choose KKR Numazu Hamayu when you want Mount Fuji and Suruga Bay scenery, easy access to Numazu Port, seasonal Japanese dining, and hot spring water from Atami. The choice of Japanese rooms, spacious Japanese-Western rooms, and distinctive detached rooms lets you shape your stay around the view, layout, and amount of space that suit you best.
