Overview
Hotel RaKuun is a casual hot spring hotel in the Moto-Hakone area, about 800 meters above sea level. You stay at 103 Moto-Hakone, close to Lake Ashi, with forest air, mountain views, and easy access to Hakone sightseeing.
This is a good choice when you want Hakone without heavy formality. You can enjoy simple rooms, Lake Ashi or mountain views depending on your room, buffet meals, all-inclusive drinks and snacks, and Ashinoko Onsen bathing after a day outside.
The hotel works especially well when you want a relaxed base near Lake Ashi, Hakone Shrine, Hakone Checkpoint, ropeway routes, and lakeside sightseeing. You spend the day exploring, then return for a bath, dinner, drinks, and quiet time in the mountain air.
Accommodation
You choose from 25 rooms across 8 room types. The hotel offers Japanese rooms, Western rooms, Japanese-Western rooms, larger group rooms, and pet-friendly room options.
If you want a Lake Ashi view, choose one of the lake-view Japanese rooms. These rooms let you look toward the water and enjoy the fresh air from the window. The 10-tatami and 12-tatami lake-view rooms suit you when you want a classic Japanese stay with tatami and a stronger sense of place.
Mountain-view Japanese rooms face the Hakone mountains, including areas around Komagatake, Futagoyama, and Daikanzan. These rooms suit you when you prefer greenery, height, and a quieter mountain outlook. The larger mountain-view Japanese room gives more space for family or group stays.
For a more playful group stay, choose the large room type with either bunk beds or a Japanese-Western layout. The renewed bunk-bed room is also used for pet-friendly stays, so you can travel with your dog when you book the correct plan.
Western-style rooms include twin and triple layouts. These rooms are simple and practical, with beds, a private feel, and easy comfort after sightseeing.
If the view is not your main priority, the standard Japanese room gives you a simpler and more budget-conscious stay while still giving you access to the meals, all-inclusive service, and hot spring baths.
All rooms include a bath and toilet, TV, kettle, tea set, refrigerator, hair dryer, body soap, rinse-in shampoo, toothbrush set, soap, glasses, razor, towels, bath towels, yukata, and slippers.
Dining
Meals are served in Mori no Kohan Dining, a bright Nordic-style dining room with a relaxed feel. Dinner uses a main-dish and buffet style, so you can enjoy prepared dishes along with buffet items such as salads, desserts, and freshly baked bread.
Dinner dishes may include roast beef salad, Hakone Sanroku pork in tomato sauce, acqua pazza, carbonara, mussels in white wine, shrimp ajillo, marinated pork loin, beef tendon stroganoff pie, and gratin. The menu changes depending on the season and ingredient supply.
Alcohol is included during dinner as part of the all-inclusive service, except for items such as beer and local sake, which are handled separately. This makes dinner easy and casual, especially when you want to enjoy drinks without planning each order.
Breakfast is buffet-style, with both Japanese and Western dishes. You can enjoy freshly baked bread, cereal, fruit, grilled fish, fresh salad, French toast, seasonal vegetables with bagna cauda, Mori no Kohan curry, desserts, and coffee.
Because meals are buffet-style, the hotel does not provide individual allergy replacement meals. If you have allergies, check carefully before booking and plan accordingly.
