Kamenoi Hotel Itako is a hot spring resort hotel overlooking Lake Kitaura in Itako, Ibaraki. You stay above the water town scenery, with lake views, natural hot spring bathing, seasonal kaiseki dining, and easy access to Itako, Kashima, and nearby sightseeing areas. A free shuttle runs by advance reservation from JR Nobukata Station and Suigo Itako Bus Terminal, and free parking is available if you arrive by car.
This stay works well when you want a quiet lakeside base with Japanese rooms, Western rooms, a top-floor public bath, local Ibaraki food, karaoke, table tennis, tennis courts, and simple indoor activities. The setting keeps the focus on Lake Kitaura, the surrounding rice fields, and a slower rhythm away from busy city streets.
Accommodation
You can choose from Japanese-style rooms, Western-style rooms, Japanese-Western rooms, a barrier-free room, and a special Japanese-Western room with a private open-air bath. Room types include 8-tatami and 10-tatami Japanese rooms, Western single, standard twin, superior twin, barrier-free room, Japanese-Western room with bath, and special Japanese-Western room with open-air bath. Some rooms face Lake Kitaura, while some first-floor rooms and the Western single face other areas instead of the lake.
The Japanese-style rooms give you a classic tatami stay, with 8-tatami and 10-tatami layouts. These rooms work well when you want floor seating, futon bedding, and a simple Japanese atmosphere. The standard twin gives you a compact Western-style stay, while the superior twin adds more space, a unit bath, and a carpeted raised area where futons can be placed.
The Japanese-Western room combines a 6-tatami Japanese room with two beds and a unit bath. This room type suits you when you want beds plus tatami space in the same room. The barrier-free room has an electric bed, a ceiling-mounted mobile lift, a sliding door, a unit bath, and a raised carpeted area where futons can be placed. There is only one room with the ceiling lift.
The special Japanese-Western room with open-air bath gives you a bedroom, Japanese room, and private open-air bath. The bath has a roof and walls, with a wooden lattice window on one side so you can look outside. The water in this room’s open-air bath is heated water, not hot spring water.
Room amenities include slippers, bath towels, towels, toothbrushes, drawstring bags, obi belts, shampoo, conditioner, body soap, multi-charger, hair dryer, TV, refrigerator, safe, warm-water washing toilet, brown haori coat, and cold-water bottle. Yukata, razors, cotton swabs, hairbrushes, and hair ties are available in the first-floor lobby. Free Wi-Fi is available in all rooms.
Dining
Dinner focuses on Ibaraki ingredients, seasonal seafood, Hitachi beef, local pork, chicken, lotus root, clams, catfish, white fish, and other regional flavors. You can choose from kaiseki plans such as the Ultimate Kaiseki Course, Special Kaiseki Course, Blessings of the Land Kaiseki, and Seasonal Kaiseki Cuisine. Menus change with the season and ingredient availability.
The premium courses may include dishes such as Hitachi beef roast beef, smoked catfish, monkfish liver rillettes, sashimi, steamed white fish, Hitachi beef shabu-shabu, lobster, sweet snapper, crab clay-pot rice, Hinuma clam miso soup, and Ibaraki-style desserts. Other plans may include Hitachi no Kagayaki pork, Kasumigaura white fish, clams, swordfish, seafood hot pot, lotus root, and seasonal vegetables.
À la carte dishes can also be added when available, including Hitachi beef steak, assorted sashimi, assorted tempura with shrimp, seasonal vegetables and Kasumigaura catfish, and fried chicken.
Breakfast is served buffet style at Restaurant Suigo. The restaurant is bright and comfortable, with breakfast in the morning and dinner in the evening. Meals are served at the restaurant or large hall, not in your room.
At night, you can enjoy Kamenoi Hotel’s complimentary dandan noodles service for overnight stays. One bowl per person is included during the late-night serving time, with rotating red, black sesame, and white sesame flavors.
Onsen and Wellness
The top-floor large public bath uses Shiorai Suwon Onsen, a natural hot spring from the hotel’s own source. The water is slightly lukewarm, so you can soak slowly while looking over Lake Kitaura and the water-town scenery below. If you stay overnight, the sunrise over Kitaura can become part of your morning bath experience.
The spring quality is sodium-chloride cold spring water. Listed indications include neuralgia, muscle pain, joint pain, frozen shoulder, motor paralysis, joint stiffness, bruises, sprains, chronic digestive concerns, hemorrhoids, sensitivity to cold, recovery after illness, fatigue recovery, health promotion, cuts, burns, chronic skin disease, weak constitution in children, and chronic women’s health concerns.
The large public bath is available in the morning and from late morning until midnight, with maintenance closures on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday during the mid-day period. Day-use bathing is also available during set hours, with shorter hours on maintenance days.
The special Japanese-Western room has a private open-air bath, but the water is not hot spring water.
Guests with tattoos
If you have tattoos, you cannot use the public bath unless the tattoo is fully hidden so it cannot be seen by others. A cover sticker or similar covering allows access when the tattoo is not visible. Please note that you can enjoy the private baths in your room but those do not use onsen water.
