Overview
Okumizuma Onsen sits in Kaizuka City, just 50 minutes by car from Osaka. This peaceful mountain retreat offers a timeless setting where cherry blossoms bloom in spring, fireflies light up the summer nights, leaves blaze in autumn, and snow covers the landscape in winter. The ryokan stands beside a clear stream and draws its water from a sodium-rich spring known as Osaka’s finest “beauty bath.”
Accommodation
Choose from a range of Japanese-style rooms with views of the mountains, river, or garden. On the first floor, the “Tsuru no Ma” room offers a private open-air bath and underfloor heating. Second-floor rooms are named after flowers and birds and come with tatami floors and traditional interiors.
Every room includes a toilet with washlet, LCD TV, and electric kettle. Some rooms feature private open-air baths—note that these are not hot springs.
Dining
Enjoy Kaiseki meals that reflect the flavors of each season. The chef creates dishes using seasonal produce and local vegetables. You can dine in your room, with several plans offering multi-course meals like:
- Special Kaiseki – the top-tier plan with carefully selected dishes by the chef
- Dream Kaiseki – upgraded monthly menu with premium seasonal ingredients
- Aoyagi Kaiseki – the ryokan’s signature menu served monthly
- Wagyu Shabu Shabu and Sea Bream Shabu Shabu – light and flavorful hot pots served in your room
- Mini Kaiseki “Hana” – a simpler, smaller course meal
- Breakfast – Japanese-style set featuring local items, often served in your room
Children’s meals are available, including bento-style options. If you travel with young children, one child can stay for free under some plans.
Onsen and Wellness
Soak in a natural hot spring that leaves your skin soft and smooth. The baths use a sodium bicarbonate spring, known for its gentle and moisturizing effects. Most bathing areas offer views of nature. Some rooms include open-air baths, although not all are hot springs.
Guests with Tattoos
If you have tattoos, contact the ryokan to reserve a private bath or special plan, as public bath access may be restricted.
