Overview

Find your peaceful escape at Yasuraginoyado Yufu, set in the atmospheric Kannawa Onsen area of Beppu. This historic hot spring town is one of Beppu’s eight iconic onsen districts and gives you access to famous spots like the Jigoku “Hell” tour. You can also drive easily to nearby highlights such as Yufuin, the Kokonoe Yume suspension bridge, and the Usuki stone Buddhas.

With private onsen baths, rich local cuisine, and warm service, Yufu invites you to slow down, soak in natural hot spring water, and savor the flavors of Oita. Let this be your base for both relaxation and exploration.

Accommodation

Choose from eight Japanese-style rooms, each designed for comfort and calm. Some rooms feature soft Simmons beds, others give you space to spread out on tatami mats. You’ll find traditional design elements like lantern lighting and the fragrance of tatami in every room.

Stay in the modern suite if you want the blend of Japanese and Western styles. If you’re traveling with family or friends, the larger corner rooms offer enough room for up to four people. Every room includes essentials like a washlet toilet, refrigerator, A/C, and free Wi-Fi. Though none of the rooms have a private bath, you can enjoy one of the four private onsen baths available to all.

Dining

Your stay includes the chance to taste Oita’s culinary treasures. The dinner courses at Yufu feature fresh seafood, A5-grade Bungo beef, and dishes steamed using natural hot spring vapors—known as “Jigoku steam.”

Pick from several set meals:

  • Oita Local Cuisine – Seafood & Veggies: A full course with a sashimi boat, A5 Bungo steak, and hot spring steam dishes.
  • Bungo’s Treasure: Horse mackerel sashimi, rich Bungo steak, and Jigoku-steamed vegetables.
  • Lady’s Favourite: Fresh flounder sashimi paired with Bungo steak.
  • The Supreme Oita Cuisine: A standout course with both horse mackerel and mackerel sashimi, Bungo steak, and steamed specialties. You must reserve this course at least one day in advance.

You can also enhance your meal with local Kabosu citrus wine. For special occasions, request an anniversary cake with a message plate when booking.

Breakfast includes 12 kinds of Japanese dishes, bread, yogurt, and coffee. You can even take some of the bread to go.

Onsen and Wellness

Yasuraginoyado Yufu offers four private hot spring baths—two indoor and two open-air. These baths use 100% natural Beppu Kannawa onsen water, known for its heat retention and mineral-rich quality.

Try the rock bath for a spacious soak or the cypress bath to relax in the scent of natural wood. The open-air baths also come with mist saunas—one with pure steam, the other infused with aromatic oils to warm your body and improve circulation.

You can reserve these baths when you check in. Since all the baths are private, you won’t find any large communal baths here. The setup ensures you can fully unwind in privacy.

Guests with Tattoos

You can use the private hot springs freely, even if you have tattoos. Since all baths are private and require reservations, there’s no restriction based on tattoos.

Facilities

You’ll find everything you need during your stay, including a restaurant with private dining rooms. Enjoy your meals without interruptions in these cozy, closed-off spaces.

The ryokan also offers vending machines, a hearth lounge, and a delivery service. Free parking is available, and all rooms are non-smoking.

Activities

Wander through the retro streets of Kannawa and visit Beppu’s famous “Hells” just a short walk away. By car, explore scenic spots like the Usuki stone Buddhas or the lush Kunisaki Peninsula. Whether you enjoy hot springs, temples, or nature, you’ll have plenty to discover nearby.
