Overview
Wake with the sun and watch the quiet waves move across the sea. From your room at TAYUTA, you see a single boat cut through the stillness, marking the start of another day in Amakusa. Here, no one interrupts you. You don’t need permission to rest. Time moves at your pace. In this space between ocean and sky, you’ll feel your mind and body come back into balance.
TAYUTA sits on Hioi Island in the heart of Amakusa, where every inch belongs to the Unzen-Amakusa National Park. Each season brings its own rhythm. You’ll feel it from your room as the air shifts, the light changes, and the scenery slowly transforms. This island, wrapped in silence and sea breeze, invites you to reconnect—with nature, with yourself, and with the quiet joy of simply being.
Accommodation
TAYUTA offers four types of suites, each designed for a private, personal stay surrounded by sea and sky.
AMAKUSA Suite: Overlooks the ocean and nearby islands from an elevated viewpoint. This suite includes a private pool and daybed on the terrace, perfect for long afternoons of doing absolutely nothing.
SUNSET Suite: Built at the edge of the property, this suite lets you soak in your private outdoor bath as the sun sets directly in front of you. Watch the sky turn gold, then blue, then black while wrapped in warmth.
TAKAMOKU Suite: Faces Takamoku Island—also known as the “Mont Saint-Michel of Amakusa.” Relax in the garden or watch the boats pass with the island as your backdrop. At night, the stars stretch across the open sky.
HARBOR Suite: Looks directly onto the marina. Inside, the room features a modern Japanese design with warm tones and soft light. The harbor view, rare even among world-class hotels, adds an extra layer of calm.
Every suite includes luxurious bedding, Wi-Fi, and hand-selected furnishings that reflect the natural textures of the island. The experience is private, slow, and deeply comfortable.
Dining
At TAYUTA, meals are more than just food—they are a way to feel the land, the sea, and the people who live here. Local fishermen, farmers, and artisans work closely with the culinary team to craft each plate from the best ingredients Amakusa offers.
You’ll taste:
- Fresh sea urchin, spiny lobster, and abalone pulled straight from nearby waters
- Local chicken, beef, and pork raised in the island’s mild climate
- Seasonal vegetables and citrus grown in rich, mineral-packed soil
- Dishes served in hand-thrown pottery made from Amakusa’s famous porcelain stone
This is Amakusa gastronomy—traditional and inventive, simple and profound. Every meal changes with the season, reflecting both nature’s rhythm and the creativity of those who bring it to life.
Onsen and Wellness
Deep beneath the island, 820 meters below, flows Amakusa Kinsen—mineral-rich spring water that rises to the surface and turns golden when it touches air. This natural hot spring offers a silky, gentle soak that eases fatigue, warms your body, and leaves your skin smooth and refreshed.
- Spring Type: Sulfur, sodium, calcium chloride
- Temperature: 35°C
- pH Level: Neutral (7.19)
- Style: Natural flow, no added water, lightly heated
The spring contains elements known to help circulation, joint pain, skin irritation, and even mild stress-related conditions. You can enjoy the onsen in privacy, whenever you like, throughout your stay.
Guests with Tattoos
TAYUTA’s baths are private and attached to your suite. You can relax fully, with no restrictions or concerns about tattoos.
