First established in 1913, this historic hotel has been completely renewed in 2024. Accommodation
Each room at Hotel Arthur offers you a quiet place to rest while staying right in the center of Beppu. Soft lighting and classic furnishings add character, and every room includes a private bath and toilet. Whether you’re traveling alone, as a couple, or with a small group, you’ll find the right space for your needs.

Dining
You can start your morning with a satisfying buffet breakfast served in the on-site restaurant. The dishes are house-made using fresh vegetables and ingredients sourced from within Japan. Choose from Japanese and Western-style items and enjoy your meal in a calm and airy dining space. Breakfast is served from 6:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and is only available to overnight guests. The restaurant is closed on Tuesdays.
Onsen and Wellness
The third floor of Hotel Arthur features large public baths where you can soak in 100% natural Beppu hot spring water. These baths are free-flowing, untreated, and known for their skin-beautifying properties.
- Men’s Bath (Tsurumi-no-Yu): Includes an indoor stone bath, outdoor “tsubo-yu” (small round tub), sauna, cold water bath, and a dressing room
- Women’s Bath (Yufu-no-Yu): Similar facilities, offering a peaceful setting for deep relaxation

Guests with Tattoos
While there is no formal policy listed, if you have tattoos and prefer privacy, consider using the baths at off-peak hours. You can also ask the staff for recommendations.
