Overview

Since 1968, Unzen Fukudaya has welcomed over 1.1 million visitors to hot spring waters famed throughout Japan. Set in Unzen—the country’s first national park and a cherished retreat for foreign and Japanese visitors since early modern times—this ryokan blends classic warmth with modern comfort. After a full renovation in 2023, you’ll find stylish Japanese-Western rooms, private saunas, and even a personal gym, all designed to be your “home-away-from-home.”

Vintage-Sophistication Villa “Sanchō Bettei” (7 rooms):

Each room immerses you in nature, with open-air terrace baths and forest or garden views.

  • Fuku: 64 m² + 15 m² terrace, includes terrace onsen sound and indoor bath.
  • Kumo / Sora: ~41 m² rooms with terrace, shower, and open-air baths.
  • Shin: 39 m² corner room with “box-garden” open-air bath and circular window.
  • SĹŤ, Rin, YĹŤ: ~40 m² rooms each with indoor bath + private garden spa.

All Bettei rooms feature top-tier German-made GelTex mattresses, Bluetooth speakers, in-room coffee makers, and premium toiletries.

Dining

Three distinct on-site restaurants serve thoughtfully prepared cuisine:

  • Nabe Danran: Cozy communal dining spot for hot pot and local dishes.
  • Sakurabashi: Teppanyaki grill specializing in premium meats.
  • KĹŤfuku: Tempura-focused eatery for fresh, crisp bites.

Plus, Mountain Café “RICKY” for light meals and drinks. Breakfast and dinner use local farm produce, specialty cuts, and seasonal vegetables cultivated on-site or nearby. Chef-prepared, healthful cuisine helps you feel grounded and satisfied.

Onsen and Wellness
