Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion, traveling with family, or enjoying a restful getaway, Kikunoya welcomes you with kindness and care in every detail.

Accommodation

Kikunoya features 16 rooms, all non-smoking, each with a view of Lake Biwa. Choose from standard Japanese-modern rooms, dog-friendly rooms with private hot springs, or luxurious suites with semi-open-air baths. Every space is designed to help you feel relaxed and at ease.

Special Room [Heavenly Wind]: Located on the top floor, this suite includes a Japanese-style room, a bedroom, and a semi-open-air natural hot spring bath. Enjoy panoramic lake views and a private soak in the open air.

Japanese-Modern Room: Renovated by skilled artisans, these rooms offer a sophisticated style with clean lines and wide views of Lake Biwa.

Dog-Friendly Room [Mizunone]: Stay with your dog in a room that includes a private semi-open-air bath for you and a hot spring bath just for your dog. Designed for comfort and peace of mind for both you and your pet.

Dog-Friendly Room [Jiaxiang]: These rooms include a dog bath, foot bath, and twin beds facing the lake. Wake up to the sunrise with your furry companion by your side.

If you’re traveling as a group, the staff can help you arrange meals together even if you stay in separate rooms. Let them know your needs when booking.

Dining

Kikunoya focuses on using local, seasonal ingredients from the Lake Biwa region. Every dish is made with care, highlighting natural flavors in creative ways. Choose from several course meals based on your preferences.

Omi Beef Zukushi: A multi-course dinner centered around Omi beef—grilled, simmered, and served as sushi. This meal is rich, tender, and perfect for beef lovers.

Omi Hakkei: This course draws inspiration from the Eight Views of Omi, combining local fish, eel, seasonal vegetables, and more into an elegant dining experience.

Seasonal Kaiseki: This standard course includes around ten seasonal dishes prepared fresh for you in-room. Groups of five or more can dine in a private room or banquet hall.

Special Kaiseki (for “Mizunone” and “Heavenly Wind” Rooms): Enjoy a luxurious multi-course meal with high-end seasonal selections like grilled Biwa salmon, matsutake mushrooms, and Wagyu beef steak.

Children’s Meal: A colorful, balanced set made to delight kids and match the family table with a smile.

Breakfast: The rice and vegetables come from local farmers in Shiga’s Takashima area. Start your day with fluffy rice, richly colored eggs, and seasonal vegetables prepared simply and deliciously.

If you have food allergies or dietary restrictions, the kitchen will do their best to accommodate. Contact the ryokan at least three days before your stay to discuss specifics.

Onsen and Wellness

Soak in natural hot spring waters with a history stretching back over 1,200 years. The springs at Ogoto Onsen are known for their gentle, skin-soothing properties. The baths at Kikunoya are drawn directly from the source, offering a traditional and relaxing hot spring experience.

Men’s Bath: Enjoy the indoor bath “Biwa no Yu” and the open-air bath “Yunoyu.” You can stretch out and fully relax in the quiet atmosphere.

Private Open-Air Bath “Koyuden”: Reserve a private bath with views of the lake and enjoy your time with family, friends, or your partner in privacy.

Baths are open from 15:30 to 24:00 and again from 6:00 to 9:00. Private bath sessions are available at scheduled times throughout the evening.
