Overview

Futsukaichi Onsen Daikanso welcomes you to a timeless hot spring experience with a history stretching back over 1,300 years. Known since ancient times as “Sukita-no-yu,” this onsen appears in the Manyoshu and was once loved by Dazaifu officials and poets. You’ll stay in a quiet, Japanese-style atmosphere surrounded by the spirit of tradition and the healing power of natural hot springs. Let the warm hospitality and relaxing setting help you enjoy every moment of your stay.

Accommodation

Daikanso offers several room types across its main building, new building, and annex. Every room features a rustic Japanese style, ideal for couples, families, and groups.

New Building Rooms (351 & 360): These rooms include a bath and toilet. They provide a quiet space to unwind after a day of sightseeing.

Main Building Rooms (320): These rooms also include a bath and toilet, and they feature classic touches that reflect the ryokan’s history.

Annex Rooms (201): These rooms include only a toilet and are perfect for a simple, more traditional experience.

New Building Suite Room “Shiun”: This suite offers a more spacious layout with both bath and toilet, combining luxury and tradition.

All rooms come with tatami flooring, low tables, and a warm, calming design. You’ll enjoy a private space to relax and feel the flow of time slow down.

Dining

The chefs at Daikanso create meals with fresh seasonal ingredients and a deep knowledge of local flavors. Menus change each month to reflect the season.

Dinner options include:

  • Miyabi Kaiseki: A refined multi-course meal showcasing seasonal specialties.
  • Chikushi Kaiseki: A local-style course with regional flavors.
  • Sukiyaki: Thinly sliced beef simmered in a savory-sweet sauce.
  • Blowfish (Winter Only): Carefully prepared fugu dishes served during the colder months.

For younger travelers, you can request one of three meal styles: a smaller portion of the adult menu, a custom children’s meal, or a kids’ plate with familiar favorites. Meals are served in private or group dining rooms, depending on your needs.

Onsen and Wellness

Futsukaichi Onsen delivers 100% natural spring water straight from the source. The water flows freely without added heat or water, offering natural therapeutic effects. The alkaline simple spring helps ease chronic pain, joint conditions, neuralgia, fatigue, insomnia, and even certain memory issues.

You can enjoy several bathing options:

  • Underground Large Public Bath: Open until late, offering spacious tubs and a calming atmosphere.
  • Observation Bath (3rd Floor): Enjoy sweeping views while you soak from morning to night.
  • Family Bath Room: Book a private 45-minute session in a cozy bath space, perfect for couples or families.
  • Bedrock Bath: Rest on a gently heated stone slab that helps warm the body deeply. Reservation required.

Guests with Tattoos

If you have tattoos, you can use the family bath or bedrock bath privately by making a reservation. This allows everyone to enjoy the bathing experience comfortably.
