Overview

Aenokaze brings you the warmth of the Noto Peninsula through every detail of your stay. This ryokan takes its name from the “Aeno Kaze”—a gentle breeze that comes from the sea and is said to bring abundance, happiness, and comfort to the people of Noto. As a sister ryokan to the well-known Kagaya, Aenokaze offers you a welcoming and refreshing atmosphere, blending tradition with hospitality that feels effortless and personal.

Located in the heart of Wakura Onsen, Aenokaze invites you to relax with sweeping ocean views, exceptional meals, and soothing hot springs. You can enjoy a drum performance of Gojinjo Taiko, savor seasonal cuisine, and soak in expansive baths that open onto the Sea of Japan.

Accommodation

Aenokaze features a wide range of Japanese and Western-style rooms. Most rooms offer breathtaking views of Nanao Bay and Notojima Island, giving you the feeling of floating above the sea.

Nishi no Kaze (West Wind): These Japanese-style rooms let you unwind while gazing at the calm waters and green hills of Noto Island. Each room includes tatami flooring and traditional decor.

Higashi no Kaze (East Wind): These ocean-facing rooms open directly onto panoramic sea views. You’ll feel the sea breeze and warmth of the region the moment you open the window.

Japanese Twin Rooms: These rooms combine the simplicity of Japanese design with Western-style comfort. You’ll sleep on semi-double beds placed on soft Ryukyu tatami, letting you stretch out and relax.

Bay Suite: Designed with accessibility in mind, the Bay Suite includes barrier-free features throughout the room, including step-free access to the bathroom and toilet.

Luxury Suites (Japanese and Western types): These larger suites are ideal for longer stays. The Western-style suite includes a mini kitchen, while the Japanese-style version gives you an authentic tatami experience with stunning ocean views.

Royal Suite (Connecting Type): This spacious corner suite surrounds you with sea views on three sides. You can connect two rooms for larger groups or families.

Each room comes with a full range of amenities, including yukata, tea sets, Wi-Fi, and safety boxes. For children, the ryokan offers extra services like baby baths, step stools, and futons.

Dining

Your meals at Aenokaze showcase the rich flavors of the sea and mountains of Noto. The ryokan takes pride in creating dishes that reflect both tradition and creativity, using the freshest seasonal ingredients.

Dinner features kaiseki-style courses served in different dining areas. At Hanamai Charyo, you can enjoy your meal in a private room while watching a live performance. The Theater Dining Ai places you close to the action, with your table arranged around a central stage. For a more open, scenic setting, Nami no Hana offers large windows with sweeping ocean views.

You’ll find a mix of local specialties, seafood caught off the coast, and vegetables grown in the Noto hills. One highlight is the house-made “Yunoka Tofu,” crafted from the waters of Wakura Onsen. Expect beautifully plated dishes, bold flavors, and a few surprises inspired by Western and Chinese cuisine.

In the morning, start your day with a buffet that includes fresh tofu, grilled fish, and seasonal side dishes. The ocean view adds the perfect backdrop to your breakfast.

Onsen and Wellness

Aenokaze gives you access to one of the largest hot spring areas in Wakura. The baths stretch out toward Nanao Bay, with large glass windows that frame the sea and sky. You can watch the waves roll in as the warmth of the mineral-rich water soothes your body.

The large public bath features a clean, open space, with a mix of indoor and outdoor options. The open-air bath lets you feel the breeze while soaking just steps from the ocean. Both men’s and women’s areas include saunas.

Inside the bathhouse, you can also try the drinking spring—a corner where you can sip small amounts of the onsen water, which is said to support digestive and skin health. Start with a small serving, and avoid drinking it before bed.

If you’re looking for a little more pampering, stop by the “Wai” relaxation area next to the bath. A massage after your soak will deepen your relaxation and help relieve travel fatigue.

As an added bonus, you can also enjoy the baths at Kagaya, just a short drive or walk away. A shuttle runs between the two ryokans in the evening.

Guests with Tattoos

If you have tattoos, you can still enjoy Aenokaze’s hot springs. Use the private bath facilities or inquire at the front desk about tattoo-friendly bathing times. The staff is happy to assist you.

Facilities

Aenokaze offers many thoughtful touches to make your stay comfortable and easy. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the property. The ryokan provides wheelchair-accessible rooms, baby gear, and a wide range of items you can borrow—from phone chargers and walking canes to hair dryers and nail clippers.

You’ll also find several spaces to unwind, including the ocean-view lounge and private banquet rooms for special meals or celebrations. If you’re traveling with children, high chairs, baby baths, and kid-friendly dining sets are available upon request.

Activities

Your stay includes more than just relaxation. In the evening, the ryokan hosts traditional performances like the Gojinjo Taiko, a powerful drum show that captures the spirit of Noto’s history. You can enjoy the show while dining, or watch from your room in some plans.

Seasonal packages cater to different travelers—from couples celebrating anniversaries to families looking to share a special trip. You can wear matching yukata, enjoy spa treatments, and explore the town of Wakura at your own pace.

During the summer, you can walk around town in your yukata, visit nearby shops, or take a short trip to Notojima Aquarium or local artisan workshops.
