Overview

Welcome to Bousui, a traditional Japanese ryokan overlooking the deep blue waters of Sagami Bay. As you arrive, the ocean breeze greets you, and panoramic views of the sea stretch out before you. Here, you can let go of stress, relax in open-air hot springs, enjoy seasonal cuisine from the sea, and immerse yourself in genuine Japanese hospitality. At Bousui, every moment invites you to rest your body, calm your mind, and renew your spirit.

Accommodation

Every room at Bousui faces Sagami Bay, so you can enjoy breathtaking views from the comfort of your tatami room. Each space combines Japanese design with modern convenience. You’ll find a private bath and shower toilet in every room, along with classic tatami floors and sliding doors.

  • Standard Room – A calm 10-tatami space that gives you a peaceful place to relax.
  • Deluxe Room – A little more space at 12 tatami mats for a more open feel.
  • Junior Suite – A layout that blends a 10-tatami main room with a 4.5-tatami sitting area.
  • Suite Room – A spacious design with 12-tatami living space and a 6-tatami sitting room.

Each room offers a window to the sea and the gentle sound of waves to soothe you to sleep.

Dining

Enjoy traditional kaiseki ryori, a multi-course dinner prepared with seafood and produce gathered from the waters around Hokkawa. Every season brings new flavors, from freshly caught sashimi to slow-grilled local specialties. The chefs create each course with precision and beauty, blending visual presentation, aroma, and taste into every meal.

In the morning, enjoy a traditional Japanese breakfast featuring fresh grilled fish, rice, miso soup, and seasonal sides that energize you for the day.

You can also explore additional dishes through the à la carte menu, which features carefully crafted delicacies like rockfish karaage, abalone sashimi, or Wagyu steak grilled on a hot stone. Advance reservations are recommended, as availability depends on the day’s catch and seasonal supply.

Onsen and Wellness

Soak in the healing waters of Bousui’s hot springs, sourced from the nearby ocean-side onsen. You can bathe in a large communal bath, relax in a private gazebo, or choose a premium gazebo for a more luxurious experience.

  • Private Gazebo Baths – Four private open-air gazebos sit on the fourth floor. Each has a unique design and a private bath facing the sea. Guests can enjoy one complimentary session per stay.
  • Premium Gazebos – Located on the same floor, these two gazebos offer more space, extended soak time, and a serene, elevated atmosphere.
  • Large Communal Baths – The first floor features a traditional cypress bath (Tsubaki no Yu), a large stone bath (Shakunage no Yu), and rustic outdoor tubs. Some include jacuzzis or outdoor settings surrounded by nature.
  • Kurone Open-Air Bath – Located directly on the beach, Kuroneiwaburo is open during the day and lets you bathe while watching waves roll in. Separate baths are available for men and women.

Guests with Tattoos

If you have tattoos, Bousui recommends using the private gazebo baths, which allow for full privacy and comfort during your soak.
