Hotel Alegria Gardens Amakusa sits along the coast of Kumamoto, where you can gaze out at the ocean while you enjoy flavors inspired by the land and sea. You’ll discover meals prepared with ingredients from nearby waters and fields, designed to highlight the region’s natural beauty and cultural richness.

Accommodation

Rooms at Hotel Alegria Gardens Amakusa offer views of the ocean or surrounding nature. Whether you choose a Japanese-style tatami room or a Western-style space with beds, each room gives you a calm place to rest after a day exploring Amakusa. The interiors reflect Japanese simplicity, with warm wood tones and soft lighting to help you relax. Some rooms feature private baths, letting you unwind in comfort with a view.

Dining

Every meal celebrates the flavors of Amakusa. You can choose from three distinct kaiseki-style courses: Hon-zen, Akebono-zen, or Nagomi-zen. Each course changes with the seasons, so every visit brings something new.

Hon-zen includes a medley of local seafood like lobster, sea bream, and prawns. Grilled abalone shines with a touch of sea salt, truffle butter, and lemon. Wagyu sirloin is rich and tender, served with citrus miso and salty lemon sauce. You’ll also taste rock oysters, shark fin ankake, and Kumamoto rice alongside seasonal sides.

Akebono-zen mixes creative touches with regional recipes. This menu features asparagus tofu, almond-crusted blue crab, simmered flounder, and beef sirloin with mushroom cream sauce. It finishes with tofu pudding and seasonal fruit.

Nagomi-zen, the original full-course meal, highlights Bainiku pork from Amakusa. Raised without antibiotics, this pork is mild, juicy, and tender. This menu also includes sardine potato dumplings, simmered pork with porcini mushrooms, and yuzu-flavored kuzu manju.

Each course starts with a fresh appetizer, moves through seafood and meat dishes, and ends with house-made desserts. Meals focus on balance—light and rich, warm and cool, bold and subtle.

Children can also enjoy specially prepared meals:

Kids Lunch comes with fried shrimp, hamburgers, spaghetti, and other favorites. Chefs prepare everything by hand using fresh ingredients.

Infant Lunch is designed for younger children, with smaller portions and milder flavors. Both options are only available by reservation for kids under elementary school age.

Please let the hotel know in advance about any food allergies. The kitchen handles requests based on seven key ingredients: eggs, dairy, wheat, buckwheat, shrimp, crab, and peanuts.

Onsen and Wellness

The hotel features baths that overlook the sea, giving you a chance to relax while enjoying the natural beauty of Amakusa. Warm waters ease away fatigue, and the gentle sound of waves adds to your calm. After soaking, you can stretch out on a lounge chair or return to your room feeling refreshed.

Guests with Tattoos

If you have tattoos, you may still use the baths privately. Please speak with the front desk to reserve a time.
