Overview

Beppu Onsen KOURAKU places you in the heart of one of Japan’s most famous hot spring towns. Just a 10-minute walk from Beppu Station and near Beppu Tower, this ryokan welcomes you with warm hospitality and direct access to Beppu’s soothing thermal waters. Whether you’re traveling for relaxation or work, you can enjoy a blend of comfort, quality cuisine, and the natural charm of Oita Prefecture.

Accommodation

You can choose from several types of rooms that fit both leisure and business travel. The rooms are quiet, simple, and spacious—designed to help you unwind after a long day.

Japanese-Style Room (10 or 12 tatami mats): These large rooms can hold up to 6 people. They offer plenty of space for families or friends to relax together.

Japanese-Style Room (8 tatami mats): A bit smaller, but still comfortable for up to 4 people. It’s a cozy choice with room to breathe.

Extra-Large Japanese-Style Room (18 tatami mats and up): This is the biggest room at the ryokan and can accommodate up to 9 people. It’s ideal for larger groups or family gatherings.

Western-Style Single Room: If you’re in Beppu for business, this simple room gives you a private space to work or rest.

All rooms are non-smoking and offer a quiet place to enjoy your time in Beppu.

Dining

Your stay includes traditional kaiseki meals that highlight the seasonal flavors of Oita. Dinner is usually served in your room, allowing you to relax and take your time with each dish.

KOURAKU’s chefs prepare meals using fresh ingredients delivered daily from the sea, the mountains, and nearby villages. You can try:

  • Oita Bungo Beef Kaiseki: Savor the rich taste of Oita’s finest beef in a seasonal multi-course dinner.
  • Shabu-Shabu Dinner (Dining Hall): Eat to your heart’s content with this all-you-can-eat plan. You’ll have 120 minutes to enjoy thinly sliced meat and fresh vegetables cooked right at your table.
  • Local Chicken Kaiseki: Taste different cuts and preparations of Oita’s local chicken in this special course created for poultry lovers.
  • Bungo Horse Mackerel Sashimi Plan: Enjoy this prized fish as fresh sashimi, served from head to tail. Raised in the strong tides of the Bungo Channel, this mackerel has firm texture, sweet flavor, and no fishy smell.

Breakfast features a traditional Japanese spread with healthy, balanced dishes to help you start your day feeling refreshed.

Onsen and Wellness

You can soak in 100% natural hot spring water in both the large indoor bath and the open-air “Manten no Yu” bath. The water comes straight from the source—never recirculated.

Large Indoor Bath: Open from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m. the next morning.

Open-Air Bath (“Manten no Yu”): Bask under the stars or watch the sunrise as you look out over the streets of Beppu. Available by reservation for 1,100 yen per 50 minutes. Hours: 5:30–9:00 a.m. / 4:30–9:00 p.m. (for 1–4 people).

The hot spring water is hydrogen carbonate-based, known for its gentle effect on your skin and its nickname “the spring of beauty.” It may help with skin problems, nerve pain, fatigue, and sensitivity to cold.

Guests with Tattoos

If you have tattoos, you can still enjoy the hot springs at KOURAKU. For a more private experience, consider reserving the open-air bath.
