Overview
Just a 10-minute boat ride across the calm waters of the Seto Inland Sea, Miyajima welcomes you to an island full of spiritual charm. Hotel Miyarikyu sits only a few minutes from Itsukushima Shrine, offering you a peaceful retreat where the rhythms of the island shift from day to night.
Miyajima transforms after sunset. The once-busy streets fall silent, the lights dim, and the air becomes still and clear. You’ll feel a quiet presence that makes the island even more magical at night. This is your chance to create memories that go beyond your imagination.
Accommodation
Choose from three styles of rooms, each designed to offer you both comfort and quiet:
Standard Rooms come in different views—sea, town, or mountain. Sea-facing rooms let you take in the shimmering waters, the Otorii Gate, and Mt. Misen. Sukiya-style furnishings and careful attention to detail create a relaxing space where you can unwind.
Special Room 501 offers a one-of-a-kind stay. This Japanese-Western style room includes a twin bedroom, a living area, and views of the shrine gate, five-storied pagoda, and the island’s historical buildings. Use this spacious room to celebrate special occasions or simply enjoy the luxury of extra space.
Western-Style Rooms feature twin or single beds. These rooms are ideal for solo travelers or those who prefer a Western-style bed, especially seniors who appreciate the ease of getting in and out.
All rooms include a private bath, shower, toilet with washlet, air conditioning, TV, refrigerator, and electric kettle. You’ll also find yukata, soap, towels, and toiletries such as shampoo, conditioner, and toothbrushes.
Dining
Dinner is served as a seasonal kaiseki meal crafted by the head chef. You’ll enjoy dishes like spiny lobster, abalone, conger eel, and Hiroshima beef—all presented with care and artistry.
Each season brings new ingredients and flavors to the table. You might enjoy an appetizer of seven delicate bites, a bowl of chilled Nanjing soup, or a sushi roll made with conger eel. The menu changes regularly, so each visit feels unique.
For children, the ryokan prepares special one-plate meals with familiar favorites. Dinner is served either in your room or in a private dining space, depending on your plan.
If you’re celebrating a special occasion, you can add a whole cake or custom side dishes. Options include fried oysters, abalone sashimi, or garlic-butter stir-fried oysters—each prepared upon request.
Breakfast is usually served as a buffet, but you can also request a Japanese set meal. The morning spread includes both regional dishes and simple classics to start your day right.
Onsen and Wellness
Take time to relax in the hotel’s large communal baths, newly renovated in 2020. You’ll find two main areas:
Urasima no Yu includes a sauna and faces the sea. You can gaze at the water while soaking in the warmth.
Otohime no Yu offers changing views throughout the day, from early morning light to the soft glow of evening.
Baths alternate daily between men and women. After your soak, stop by the nearby rest area where you can enjoy a cup of original green tea or barley tea.
All bath areas are stocked with amenities like shampoo, body wash, shaving sets, hairbrushes, and skin lotion. Urasima no Yu includes a sauna with extended operating hours.
Guests with Tattoos
You can use the public baths freely, but please be aware of the alternating schedule. If you’re unsure, ask the front desk about current bath times or private options.
