Overview

Step into a world of natural beauty at Dogashima New Ginsui in Nishi-Izu. This coastal ryokan sits along the dramatic shoreline of Dogashima, where you can gaze out at endless ocean views from your room, the open-air bath, or even the lounge. From mid-October through early March, catch sunsets right from your room—scenes so beautiful they’ve been ranked among Japan’s 100 best. The atmosphere is open and spacious, giving you a real sense of freedom and connection to nature.

Accommodation

All rooms face the ocean, so you wake up to sweeping views of Suruga Bay. Each room type brings a different kind of comfort—whether you’re after traditional Japanese ambiance or Western-style simplicity.

Comfort Suite Room (VIP Room)

This one-of-a-kind room features an observation bath made from hinoki cypress. With over 130 square meters of space, you’ll find two tatami rooms, a Western twin bedroom, and a panoramic bath. Perfect for celebrating something special with family.

Japanese Superior Room with Western Bedding

Located in the West Wing, this spacious room includes a Japanese-style area and a separate bedroom with twin beds. If you stay with more than three people, futons will be set up in the tatami room. The second room may be either Japanese- or Western-style.

Japanese Moderate Room

Choose this option in the South Wing for easy access to the dining hall and public bath. These rooms give you more space than the standard type and are especially popular during sunset season, when you can watch the sky change colors from the comfort of your own room.

Japanese Standard Room

Experience traditional ryokan style with tatami floors and low tables. From your window, you’ll see the sea, the mountains, and even Sanshirō Island. These rooms sit between the 5th and 10th floors of the West Wing.

Western-Style Room (Twin Room)

Simple, functional, and still ocean-facing, this room gives you a comfortable stay with twin beds and clear views of Suruga Bay.

Dining

Dogashima New Ginsui takes full advantage of Izu’s rich natural larder. The mountains and sea deliver a steady supply of fresh, seasonal ingredients.

Kaiseki Dinner

Let the chef’s skill shine with traditional kaiseki meals, emphasizing local seafood like abalone and spiny lobster. The menu changes with the seasons, so every visit offers something new.

Premium Dinner Buffet

The buffet includes fresh catches from Suruga and Sagami Bays, along with local vegetables from Izu, Hakone, and the foothills of Mt. Fuji. Every dish is prepared fresh, with attention to both flavor and presentation.

Breakfast Buffet

Start your morning with a colorful array of regional dishes, crafted to give you energy and balance for the day ahead.

If you have food allergies, let the ryokan know in advance. The kitchen will try to accommodate your needs as much as possible, especially for kaiseki meals. For buffet dishes, allergen indicators are displayed clearly to help you make safe choices.

Onsen and Wellness

The large public bath and oceanfront open-air bath provide one of the most relaxing ways to take in the Dogashima landscape. Slide into the warm water as you listen to waves and birdsong, and watch the sky change hues above the sea.

Indoor and Outdoor Baths

Enjoy the wide, glass-fronted indoor bath with panoramic views, or step into the open-air bath where the fresh sea breeze meets warm water. Both are available from early morning to late at night.

Sauna and Jet Bath

Sweat out your stress in the dry sauna or enjoy a targeted massage in the jet bath. These facilities are available during scheduled hours and are great for recovery after a day of walking or sightseeing.

Powder Rooms and Amenities

The powder rooms offer privacy and all the essentials you need to freshen up—hairdryers, hand creams, even peeling gels. You can also borrow baby baths, cribs, or shower chairs if needed.

Guests with Tattoos

If you have tattoos, check with the front desk to confirm the best bathing options. While the main baths may have restrictions during busy periods, private alternatives may be available.
