Each room offers a quiet retreat, and every meal celebrates Sado’s unique heritage.
You’ll find yourself immersed in the beauty of sunsets, fishing lights glowing offshore, and local traditions that have been passed down through generations. With a perfect blend of nature, comfort, and history, your stay on Sado becomes more than just a getaway—it becomes a lasting memory.

Dining
Every meal at Hotel Oosado reflects the bounty of Sado. For dinner, enjoy a carefully prepared menu of seasonal seafood and mountain vegetables, all sourced locally. You’ll taste the richness of the sea and the legacy of Sado’s agricultural traditions.
Your breakfast includes ingredients from the island, served in a Japanese meal set. Enjoy rice, grilled fish, pickles, and miso soup made with care to give you a nourishing start to your day.
Hotel Oosado is deeply connected to Sado’s food culture. In 2011, the island was recognized as part of the Globally Important Agricultural Heritage System for its satoyama lifestyle—a way of farming and living in harmony with nature. Every dish served reflects this tradition.
If you have food allergies, inform the ryokan in advance. They will do their best to accommodate your needs, but please understand that they cannot guarantee full allergen removal.
Onsen and Wellness
The baths at Hotel Oosado offer something rare—direct views of the Sea of Japan as you soak. Step into the open-air baths and watch the sunset melt into the waves, or gaze at the twinkling fishing lights offshore. Both the men’s and women’s baths have saunas and indoor baths as well.
The spring water at Kasugasaki Onsen is a sodium calcium chloride sulfate spring. It soothes fatigue, muscle pain, neuralgia, and helps with circulation. The waters also support recovery and relaxation, making every bath a healing experience.
The baths are open from 5:00 AM to 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM to midnight. The saunas operate from 3:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Please note that these areas are not wheelchair accessible, and staff are available to assist with stairs if needed.
Guests with Tattoos
If you have tattoos, it’s a good idea to contact the ryokan before you arrive. Tattoos are okay in the private onsen, but you might not be allowed to use the public bath if you have them.
