Overview
At Ryokan Musashi, the waves, sunsets, and natural hot springs of Nanki-Shirahama invite you into a slower pace of life. Located just steps from Shirarahama Beach, this traditional ryokan blends warm hospitality with access to one of Japan’s most celebrated coastal destinations.
Musashi has a long history rooted in family tradition. Passed down through generations, this ryokan continues to welcome travelers with the same values and care first established in 1955. Surrounded by white sand, ocean breezes, and two ancient hot spring sources, you’ll find comfort, connection, and calm at every turn.
Accommodation
All rooms at Ryokan Musashi reflect the beauty of classic Japanese design. Tatami mats, wooden details, and gentle lighting create a quiet retreat that complements the sounds and scents of the sea.
Nagitei (Twin Bed with Ocean View & Onsen Access)
These rooms offer a direct view of Shirarahama Beach and the Pacific Ocean. Enjoy the warm breeze from your window, then head to the exclusive open-air bath “Tenku,” available only to Nagitei guests. Renovated in 2018, Nagitei rooms offer the perfect balance of tradition and comfort.
Aoikan (Ocean View Rooms)
Admire the deep blue sea and the bright white sands of Shirarahama from your window. These rooms blend good old Japanese atmosphere with relaxing views. The futons are specially designed for restful sleep, inspired by athletic performance needs.
Aoikan (Interior Rooms)
For a quieter and more affordable option, these rooms offer the same traditional design without a sea view. They’re a favorite for couples and families who want a peaceful stay in a nostalgic setting.
Annex Hototogisu
Stay in a cozy, classic-style room that’s perfect for families, groups, or long visits. The walk to this annex involves stairs, so it’s best suited for those who are comfortable getting around. The warm atmosphere makes it easy to relax at your own pace.
Each room includes a bathtub, Washlet toilet, Wi-Fi, TV, air purifier, yukata robes, toiletries, and traditional tea sets. Everything you need for a restful stay is already waiting.
Dining
Ryokan Musashi offers two dining styles, depending on your plan. Whichever you choose, the flavors of the Nanki region shine through every dish.
Buffet Dining
Enjoy a wide range of freshly prepared dishes, including Japanese, Chinese, and Western cuisine. Visit live cooking stations for hot dishes and fresh sashimi, explore seasonal specialties, and pick from a generous kids’ menu. The buffet is ideal if you want to try a lot of new flavors or travel with different dietary needs.
Kaiseki Course Meals
Relax in a private dining space and enjoy a multi-course Kaiseki meal made with premium ingredients from the Kishu region. Each dish highlights local flavors—like Wakayama’s Kumano beef, abalone, and Japanese spiny lobster. This option is perfect for anniversaries, quiet evenings, or travelers who want a more refined meal experience.
Onsen and Wellness
Soak in the healing waters of Shirahama Onsen—one of Japan’s oldest and most celebrated hot spring resorts. Ryokan Musashi offers access to two natural hot spring sources: “Saimei-yu” and “Suzushi-yu.”
Tenku (Panoramic View Bath for Nagitei Guests Only)
Located on the top floor, this open-air bath gives you an unmatched view of the coastline. Feel the wind and listen to the waves as you watch the sun sink into the ocean.
Open-Air Bath
Enjoy the soothing qualities of Suzushi-yu, a salty mineral spring drawn from a nearby source. This mellow, high-salinity water leaves your skin smooth and your body deeply warmed. The open-air bath is available 24 hours a day, except during cleaning.
Large and Medium Baths
Relax in hot spring water sourced from Musashi’s private Saimei-yu spring. These indoor baths offer soft natural light and a welcoming atmosphere. Non-slip mats, handrails, and bath chairs ensure safety and comfort for all ages.
Private Semi Open-Air Baths
Choose between two wood-accented baths—round “Hakusha” or square “Seisho.” These private baths use water directly from Suzushi-yu and include baby baskets and bath chairs, making them great for families.
Sauna and Air Bubble Baths
Unwind further in the sauna or refresh in the cold bath. Air bubble baths gently massage your muscles, helping you relax even more deeply after your soak.
Guests with Tattoos
Tattoos are accepted at Musashi. However, if you’re concerned, speak with the staff when you check in—they’ll help arrange a time or space where you can bathe comfortably.
