Kisoya stands in the heart of Gero City, just a five-minute walk from the lively hot spring district and a 15-minute walk from Gero Station. With several footbaths within easy walking distance, it’s an ideal spot for unwinding in the historic waters of Gero Onsen—one of Japan’s three most celebrated hot springs alongside Kusatsu and Arima.

Established in 1988, this traditional ryokan blends peaceful comfort with classic Japanese aesthetics. It’s not only perfect for a relaxing soak in Gero’s famous beautifying waters but also an excellent base for day trips to places like Shirakawa-go and Hida-Takayama.

Dinner is served in your room, allowing you to enjoy the meal at your own pace in a private, relaxed setting.

Breakfast

Head to the second-floor dining hall in the morning for a nourishing Japanese-style set meal. The breakfast features local ingredients and dishes like umeboshi from Misato and Oze tofu, offering a healthy, well-balanced start to your day.

Whether you’re an early riser or not usually a breakfast person, you might find yourself finishing every last bite.

Onsen and Wellness

Kisoya’s baths are fed by the famous Gero Onsen, known for its soft, smooth, and beautifying waters. Recognized since the Edo period, Gero is one of the “Three Great Hot Springs of Japan.”

Indoor Baths

Both men’s and women’s baths feature tatami-covered floors. These soft mats provide a warm, safe, and comfortable surface, especially appreciated by children, seniors, and those with injuries. The bathing areas are equipped with body soap, shampoo, conditioner, and facial cleanser.

Open-Air Bath

Step into the outdoor bath to enjoy the fresh air, wide skies, and the calming sound of nature. The bath features smooth stones that offer a gentle foot massage, while handrails ensure safe access.

Private and Family-Friendly Features
