Overview
Mikasa Ryokan is located on the serene slopes of Mt. Wakakusa in Nara. This ryokan has breathtaking panoramic views of the historic city of Nara, which was once known as Yamato and considered the birthplace of Japan.
Mikasa Ryokan serves as an ideal base for exploring not only Nara, but also nearby Kyoto and Osaka, making it perfect for sightseeing throughout Kansai.
Accommodation
Mikasa Ryokan offers three types of luxurious guest rooms, each equipped with either private cypress or ceramic open-air baths. Select from rooms with superb views of the Todai-ji Temple Great Buddha Hall, rooms with a relaxed pure Japanese style surrounded by greenery, or those that let you feel the cool evening breeze on a private terrace.
Dining
Mikasa Ryokan offers kaiseki-ryori, a Japanese meal that changes every month. Also, the ryokan serves Nabe food, which is like eating hotpot together with others. It’s fun and filling. The signature “Yagyu nabe,” made with miso and locally sourced Yamato pork, is a historic and popular choice among foodies.
Onsen & Wellness
Mikasa Ryokan has two bathhouses, Tenpyo no Yu and Komyo no Yu, both featuring the therapeutic mineral “komeiseki.”
These bathhouses offer separate times for men and women and include indoor and open-air baths. Tenpyo no Yu’s design reflects the grandeur of the Tempyo period, while Komyo no Yu’s gentle waters are perfect for relaxing in nature’s seasonal beauty.
Please note that the onsen is not filled with natural hot spring water but it is an artificial hot spring which uses minerals.
