Overview

Spend unforgettable moments on Miyajima, the island known as “God’s Island,” floating in the tranquil Seto Inland Sea. Just a five-minute walk from the ferry pier, Miyajima Hotel Makoto welcomes you with the quiet charm of nature and the sound of birds in the morning. Wild deer roam freely near the property, and the iconic Itsukushima Shrine is only ten minutes away on foot.

For over 30 years, this ryokan has offered heartfelt hospitality and cuisine rooted in local flavors. Even if the building shows its age in some areas, the staff focuses on making your stay special through warm service and care. Every visit is guided by the spirit of gratitude and the hope that your journey will be one to remember.

Accommodation

Choose from a range of room styles designed to help you relax, whether you’re here for a romantic getaway, a family trip, or a solo retreat.

A Type Rooms offer a view of the sea and a spacious Japanese-style setting, with 23 square meters plus a wide window-side space. Located on the upper floors, these rooms let you soak in the natural beauty of Miyajima.

B Type Rooms provide quiet comfort on the third floor, also with 23 square meters of space and all the essentials for a peaceful stay.

C Type Rooms feature a traditional Japanese front room in addition to the main 23-square-meter space. These rooms don’t have private baths, so you can take full advantage of the large communal bath.

Special Room is a unique Japanese + Western corner room on the top floor. Renovated in 2022, it offers expansive views of the Otorii Gate, Goju-no-to pagoda, and the island’s coast and mountains. This room includes twin beds, a desk, and even a microwave—perfect for long stays or a special celebration.

All rooms are non-smoking and equipped with air conditioning, 32-inch TVs, refrigerators, safes, and washbasins. Amenities include yukata, towels, toothbrushes, and body care items.

Dining

Meals are served in the dining halls, where you can enjoy freshly prepared kaiseki cuisine. The ryokan offers three distinct dinner plans:

  • Relaxation Kaiseki (Isaribi): Focuses on seasonal ingredients and comforting flavors, perfect for quiet evenings.
  • Hospitality Kaiseki (Unkai): A carefully curated menu ideal for sharing with someone you want to delight.
  • Chef’s Omakase Kaiseki (Ebisu): The head chef presents a premium selection using the finest ingredients of the season.

Breakfast features a Japanese set meal with Hiroshima rice, clam miso soup, grilled fish, and local side dishes. Meals are served at your own table in the dining halls. You can request a seat near a corner or entrance if you have a preference.

Children’s meals include favorites like hamburg steak, fried shrimp, and sashimi. Let the staff know in advance if you have any dietary restrictions or allergies—they’ll adjust the menu when possible.

Onsen and Wellness

Unwind in the large communal baths, each styled with Japanese garden views that bring a calm atmosphere indoors. The men’s bath is named White Plum, and the women’s bath is Red Plum. Both are spacious and open from evening into the next morning.

The private bath, Koume, is available to reserve for a 40-minute session. With only three slots per day, it’s perfect for couples or families who want more privacy. You’ll also find baby tubs and cots in the changing areas, along with chairs for guests with limited mobility.

Guests with Tattoos

You can use the private bath without restrictions. If you’re concerned about using the communal facilities, reserve a private session with ease.
