Japanese Inn Hanagokoro is a secluded ryokan in Hakone, reopened in March 2024. Hanagokoro, which is situated on a hill at an elevation of 800 meters above sea level, provides a beautiful retreat with breathtaking views of the outer rim of Hakone and the surrounding forest. This intimate inn features eight rooms, each with its own private open-air bath, offering you an exclusive bathing experience. Whether you’re here for the serene atmosphere, the seasonal kaiseki cuisine, or the rejuvenating hot springs, Hanagokoro promises a relaxing escape in harmony with nature.
Accommodation
Hanagokoro offers eight meticulously designed Japanese-Western style rooms, each equipped with a private open-air bath in a separate building. The rooms combine traditional Japanese elements with modern comforts, providing you with a relaxing space to unwind. The private baths are located 1-2 minutes from your room, offering privacy and an immersive experience in nature.
- Japanese-Western Room (46 sqm): Spacious rooms with panoramic views of the Hakone outer rim, featuring traditional tatami flooring and modern amenities.
- Japanese-Western Room (35 sqm): Cozy yet elegant, these rooms also offer views of the surrounding mountains and forest.
Each room is designed with attention to detail, featuring furniture from renowned designers and modern conveniences like air conditioning, floor heating, and LCD TVs.

Hanagokoro’s cuisine is a celebration of seasonal ingredients from both the mountains and seas surrounding Hakone. The water is sourced from Owakudani, known for its famous “black eggs,” and is a cloudy, white acidic hot spring that changes color depending on the season. The baths are designed to retain heat, leaving your skin feeling smooth and warm long after your soak.
