Overview

Step into the ancient world of Japan’s Tenpyo era at Nara Park Hotel. Located near the ruins of Heijo Palace, this hotel blends cultural heritage with a relaxing ryokan-style stay. As soon as you enter the front lobby, where the staff greet you in colorful court costumes, you’re welcomed into a world inspired by the elegance and refinement of the Nara Period.

The hotel sits on the Yamato Road, once walked by nobles and monks, and still a place where the past lingers. You’ll feel the passage of 1,300 years melt away as you explore nearby temples, soak in the hot spring, and dine on meals rooted in Japan’s oldest traditions.

Accommodation

All rooms offer traditional Japanese interiors with low beds and plenty of space to stretch out and unwind. You can choose to enjoy your dinner in the comfort of your room. The design is simple and peaceful, allowing you to slow down and rest.

Each room includes:

  • A toilet with washing function
  • Separate bath or unit bath
  • TV, telephone, and empty refrigerator
  • Kettle and tea set
  • Yukata and slippers
  • Body soap, shampoo, conditioner, toothbrush, comb
  • Towels and bath towels
  • Hairdryer and in-room safety box

Dining

Enjoy a full course Yamato kaiseki dinner made with seasonal ingredients unique to Nara. The cuisine includes dishes recreated from ancient records—giving you a taste of what nobles once enjoyed during the Tenpyo era.

In the morning, try a traditional Nara-style breakfast that features tea porridge, a dish that’s been eaten for over a millennium, and “So,” a soft, ancient cheese. Every meal is gentle on your body and rich in history.

Onsen and Wellness

The on-site Horai Hot Spring has long been known for easing the fatigue of travelers. According to legend, even the wise “Old Man of Fushimi” once bathed here. You can feel the heat slowly loosen your muscles and calm your mind after a day of walking through temples and gardens.

Hot spring hours:

  • 11:00 AM – 11:00 PM
  • 6:00 AM – 9:00 AM

The hot spring may be reserved for large groups on some days. Please check availability at the front desk.
