Overview
Step into Ryokan Kiraku and step back in time. Located in Beppu’s Tetsuwa hot spring district, this restored folk house carries the warm atmosphere of the Showa era. The ryokan blends traditional aesthetics with modern touches, offering just seven rooms for a peaceful and personal experience. The old wooden beams, geta sandals by the door, and the scent of hinoki fill the space with gentle nostalgia. At Kiraku, you can slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect—with nature, with others, and with yourself.
Accommodation
You’ll find two room types at Kiraku: “Miyabi” and “Hō.” Both types are designed with care to help you escape your everyday routine.

Hō Rooms
These four rooms combine rustic warmth and timeless design. Tatami floors, soft light, and wooden textures invite you to slow down and rest.
Sakura — Spend quiet time in a traditional room, letting your thoughts wander.

All rooms have private dining areas, letting you enjoy your meals in comfort and privacy.
Dining
Kiraku prepares traditional Japanese meals using local ingredients from Beppu and Oita. The dishes reflect a deep respect for the seasons and simplicity, with flavors that stay true to the region’s culinary roots.
Dinner
Dinner includes seasonal appetizers, two small dishes, grilled items, sashimi, steamed egg custard made with hot spring steam, karaage from Nakatsu, soup, pickles, rice from Ajimu, and a seasonal hot pot. Every dish is seasoned with care and nostalgia.
You can also pre-order special dishes like a 10-item sashimi platter or sashimi made from sekisaba, a prized local mackerel.
Breakfast
Start your day with ingredients steamed using Beppu’s famous “jigoku mushi” (hell-steaming) method. Steam from the hot spring cooks food quickly and naturally, locking in deep flavor. Whether it’s vegetables, eggs, or fish, the result is hearty and satisfying.
Meals are served in private dining areas within your room, so you can enjoy conversation and comfort at your own pace.
Onsen and Wellness
Kiraku’s hot springs flow directly from a natural source. The water is hotter than usual, rich in minerals, and loved by many for its refreshing and soothing properties. You can enjoy the baths without dilution, though the staff will adjust the temperature if needed.
Public Bath
Indoors, soft green reflections ripple across the bath’s surface. The sound of water fills the space, helping you let go of time. You’ll find comfort in every drop.
Open-Air Bath
Outdoors, the clear air and gentle silence let you fully immerse yourself. At night, lantern light glows under the dark sky. On clear evenings, you can even stargaze as you soak.
Steam Bath & Sand Bath
Experience Beppu’s unique steam bath, where hot spring steam surrounds your body and warms you from the outside in. Or try a sand bath, where warm, mineral-rich sand slowly heats your body, offering deep relaxation.
