Overview

Rangetsu Ryokan is a traditional luxury ryokan located along the scenic Oi River in Arashiyama, Kyoto. Ryotei Rangetsu features natural deep sea water from Arashiyama for its onsen which is rich in minerals. The ryokan has only just been renovated and reopened in 2024, with new rooms that feature private onsen. For a traditional ryokan, kaiseki and onsen experience, Ryotei Rangetsu is a fantastic place to visit.

The newly renovated rooms at Ryotei Rangetsu including the “special room with semi-open-air bath,” are designed to provide a tranquil space with views of Arashiyama. These rooms are spacious, with areas over 59m², and feature Simmons mattresses for optimal rest. Choose from various room types, including those with open-air or semi-open-air baths, ensuring a luxurious and private bathing experience.

Dining

At Rangetsu, you are treated to the finest Kyoto kaiseki cuisine, crafted with an abundance of seasonal ingredients that highlight the natural flavors of each dish. Dining takes place in private rooms with views of the garden or courtyard. Breakfast features healthy options such as yudofu and tofu from Sagano, ensuring a delightful start to the day.

Onsen & Wellness

Rangetsu’s onsen, known as the “Stormy Moon Baths,” uses natural deep-sea water from Arashiyama, rich in minerals that smooth the skin and provide therapeutic benefits. Enjoy the large communal bath, which is available during the evening and morning hours, or relax in the privacy of your own room’s bath.
