Overview
Wakakusa No Yado Maruei is a tranquil Japanese ryokan located on the shores of Lake Kawaguchi and comes with superb views of Mount Fuji. Although close to the popular tourist spots of the Fuji Five Lakes, Wakakusa No Yado Maruei is in a peaceful location away from the hustle and bustle. The ryokan has a history dating back to 1955.
Accommodation
Wakakusa no Yado Maruei comes with a range of room types, each designed to cater to different preferences and budgets. You can choose from traditional Japanese-style rooms, Japanese-Western rooms with panoramic baths, and rooms with open-air baths offering stunning views of either Mount Fuji or Lake Kawaguchi.
The special “Nonohanatei” floor features purely Japanese-style rooms with luxurious details like sunken kotatsu tables and open-air baths.
Dining
When you stay at Wakakusa no Yado Maruei, you will be treated to seasonal Japanese cuisine that reflects the flavors and colors of each season. Evening meals are served either in the privacy of your room or in a private dining room, where you can enjoy a range of fresh seafood and local produce. Onsen & Wellness
Wakakusa No Yado Maruei has stunning onsen on site with panoramic views of Mount Fuji and Lake Kawaguchi. The open-air baths, named “Fuji no Yu” and “Lake no Yu,” offer scenic vistas that change throughout the day,
For a more private experience, the “Fuyou no Yu” private panoramic bath with a view of Mount Fuji is available by reservation. You can also enjoy a variety of other baths, including herbal hot springs and saunas.
Guests with Tattoos
The inn does not allow guests with tattoos (including stickers) to use the large communal baths or open-air baths. However, guests with tattoos can still enjoy the baths in their private rooms or reserve the private bath, “Fuyou no Yu.”
Facilities
The rooftop observation deck provides a 360-degree panoramic view of Mount Fuji and the surrounding area. Relax at the hotel’s lobby lounge, tea ceremony room, and picture book room. For meetings and events, Wakakusa No Yado Maruei has several halls available, including “Tenku” and “Reiho”. There is a souvenir available on-site, offering local specialties and original products like Koshu wine and handmade crafts.

In addition to relaxing in the onsen and enjoying the views, stroll along the lakeside promenade directly in front of Wakakusa No Yado Maruei, which offers a peaceful walk surrounded by nature.
Wakakusa No Yado Maruei occasionally hosts “Kamishibai Theater” performances, where the owner presents one of over 100 carefully curated plays. This nostalgic storytelling experience is a unique feature of the ryokan.
