Overview
At the foot of the Nikko mountains, Senhime Monogatari invites you to experience deep relaxation in a setting shaped by nature and history. Surrounded by soft mountain breezes and views that shift beautifully with the seasons, this ryokan offers you an escape where time slows down. From cherry blossoms in spring to snowy scenes in winter, every moment connects you to the peaceful rhythms of Japan’s natural beauty.
Just outside your window, Nakimushi Yama and the Daiya River valley stretch into the distance. Whether you’re soaking in an outdoor bath, sipping tea in a lounge filled with traditional charm, or resting in a room with wide tatami floors, your stay here is a gentle retreat for the body and mind.
Accommodation
Each room at Senhime Monogatari opens to seasonal views and a peaceful atmosphere. The interiors combine Japanese tradition with comfort, using natural wood, soft lighting, and carefully placed furnishings.

- Japanese-Style Room: Spacious and traditional, with tatami floors, wide brims, and a comfortable anteroom. Some include dining tables for those who prefer chairs to floor seating.
- Japanese and Western Style Room: These rooms blend tatami floors with twin beds, offering comfort without losing the essence of a ryokan stay.

- Special Guestroom: These larger rooms feature separate bedrooms, massage chairs, and premium bedding. Look out across the valley and enjoy touches like Airweave mattresses used by athletes and celebrities.
- Deluxe Guestroom: A panoramic stone bath inside the room lets you enjoy Nikko’s nature even while indoors. Relax at a dining table with chair seating, and use the massage chairs to relieve tension.
- Japanese Twin: A twin bed setup on tatami mats offers the best of both worlds—sleeping comfort and traditional design.
- Twin Room: A simple Western-style room overlooking the grove near Toshogu Shrine. Ideal for those looking for a modest yet comfortable stay.
Dining
At the Japanese restaurant Orihime, you can enjoy seasonal dishes crafted with ingredients from the region. Whether you’re dining as a couple or a group, the layout offers both privacy and elegance.
Dinner includes a full-course Yamato kaiseki meal, rooted in Nikkō’s culinary traditions. For breakfast, savor tea porridge—a dish with a 1,300-year history—and “So,” an ancient soft cheese once eaten by nobles. These meals are designed to support your well-being while giving you a taste of historical Japan.
