Overview

Azumino Komorebi gives you a private villa stay in the forests of Azumino, Nagano, with the feel of a mountain hideaway and the freedom of having the whole house to yourself. You can unwind with a natural hot spring bath, a hinoki sauna on the wooden deck, a wood-burning stove, and a karaoke room, all in a villa renovated and extended in 2024. The house sits in Azumino City, an area known for Northern Alps scenery, clear spring water, wasabi fields, shrines, and easy access to Matsumoto.

Accommodation

You stay in a full private wooden villa designed for families, friends, and groups who want space, privacy, and a relaxed forest setting. The villa has two bedrooms, each prepared with five futons, so you can share the stay comfortably with a larger group. The house also includes a renovated dining kitchen, a living area with a wood-burning stove, and a karaoke room for easy evenings indoors.

The interiors feel warm and practical, with a clean wooden style and enough room to cook, eat, rest, sing, and soak without sharing the space with anyone outside your group. You also have a large private hot spring bath in the villa, so your stay includes an onsen-style bathing experience whenever you want privacy.

Dining

Meals are self-catering, so you can shape each day around your own pace. The villa includes a kitchen, and you can bring ingredients for breakfast, dinner, hot pot, or simple snacks after the sauna. Please bring your own seasonings, including oil, salt, and pepper.

From May to mid-October, you can also enjoy BBQ in the designated outdoor space. BBQ is not available from late October through April, so colder-season stays are better suited to indoor cooking and fireside meals.

Onsen and Wellness

The highlight of Azumino Komorebi is your private wellness time. You can soak in a large natural hot spring bath filled with water from Nakabusa Onsen. The bath is spacious enough for four people at once, and the listing notes benefits for muscle fatigue recovery and skin comfort.

Outside, the hinoki sauna sits on the wooden deck and looks out toward the forest. After heating up in the sauna, you can cool down with the dedicated cold-water bath and enjoy open-air rest on the deck. This private setup works especially well after skiing, sightseeing, hiking, or a long drive through Nagano.

Guests with Tattoos

Because you can soak in the private onsen, you can enjoy the onsen regardless of tattoos.

Facilities

Azumino Komorebi includes a kitchen, Wi-Fi, free on-site parking, sauna, private hot spring bath, karaoke room, wood-burning stove, washing machine, dryer, microwave, refrigerator, air conditioning, cooking tools, tableware, and BBQ garden. Pets are allowed, and up to two pets may stay for an additional fee when declared in advance.

Activities

You can use the villa as a quiet base for exploring Azumino and Matsumoto. Nearby sightseeing options include Hotaka Shrine, Daio Wasabi Farm, Roadside Station Alps Azumino Horigane no Sato, Matsumoto Castle, Jigatake Ski Resort, and Asahi Prime Ski Resort.

Daio Wasabi Farm is one of Azumino’s signature stops, with wide wasabi fields fed by Northern Alps spring water. Hotaka Shrine adds a cultural stop in the heart of Azumino, while Matsumoto Castle offers one of Japan’s best-known National Treasure castle experiences. In winter, Alps Azumino National Government Park also holds a large illumination event.
