Overview
Fukujuso gives you an island ryokan stay on Watakano Island in Ise-Shima, Mie. Your arrival begins with a short boat ride across Matoya Bay, setting the tone for a trip shaped by sea air, quiet island scenery, and warm Japanese hospitality. From the ryokan, you can enjoy views of the bay, seasonal seafood, Matsusaka beef, and natural hot spring baths drawn from 1,300 meters underground.
This is a good choice when you want a relaxed coastal ryokan experience with easy access to Ise-Shima sightseeing, island activities, and baths that feel closely connected to the landscape.
Accommodation
Fukujuso offers Japanese-style rooms, Western-style rooms, Japanese-Western rooms, accessible rooms, and larger rooms for group stays. Many rooms let you enjoy the feeling of staying by the sea, with Matoya Bay views, tatami flooring, and a calm ryokan atmosphere.
William Morris Room surrounds you with patterns inspired by the British textile designer William Morris. Natural floral and bird motifs add a refined, decorative feel, while the room keeps the relaxed style of a ryokan stay.
Japanese-Style Wa-Modern Room was renewed in April 2024. You can relax on Ryukyu tatami, step out to a small terrace, and look across the sparkling waters of Matoya Bay. The flat layout connects the room and sitting area in an easy, open way.
Japanese-Western Room Misakitei gives you a separate sleeping and relaxing space, with Matoya Bay spreading out in front of you. Two rooms in this category include an ocean-facing view bath, so you can enjoy a private onsen-style soak while feeling the island air.
Western Twin Room Misakitei offers twin Simmons beds and a side view of the sea. This room suits you well when you prefer beds but still want the atmosphere of an island ryokan.
Japanese-Western Barrier-Free Room uses universal design, with thoughtful space around the bed, table, bath, closet, and room pathways. It gives you an easier stay if you use a wheelchair or want a more accessible layout.
Japanese-Style Room lets you enjoy the classic feel of tatami and a pure Japanese room. Sea-side rooms look out toward the gentle scenery of Matoya Bay.
Japanese-Style Special Room includes two Japanese rooms and a living room, making it a good option for celebrations, couples, and multi-generation trips.
Large Japanese-Style Room is designed for close friends or group travel, with one spacious tatami room.
Western Single Room was renewed in 2024. It includes a unit bath and a desk, so it works well for solo stays or a simple workation by the sea.
Dining
Your meals focus on the flavors of Ise-Shima and Mie. Dinner can feature Ise lobster, Matoya oysters, Anori fugu, black abalone, and Matsusaka beef, depending on the season and your plan. The ryokan’s “Shun Kiko” approach highlights seafood at its best time of year, with local ingredients presented in a kaiseki-style meal.
You can choose plans that include Ise lobster with Matsusaka beef, seasonal seafood with Matsusaka beef, or winter Anori fugu prepared as sashimi, hot pot, fried dishes, and rice porridge. Extra dishes such as Ise lobster, shellfish, abalone, domestic beef, Matoya oysters, and fugu may also be available, depending on season and supply.
Breakfast is a Japanese set meal with comforting dishes such as handmade dashimaki omelet, mackerel simmered in miso, steamed warm vegetables, and hot fisherman’s soup. Meals are served in private dining rooms or restaurant seating, depending on your plan and group size.
Onsen and Wellness
Fukujuso’s hot spring water rises from 1,300 meters underground and is classified as a therapeutic spring. The spring quality is sodium-calcium chloride hot spring water, with clear, colorless water and a source temperature of 31.7°C.
You can soak in the garden open-air bath Kazemachi no Yu, where you move between an indoor bath, hinoki bath, rock bath, waterfall bath, walking bath, lying bath, and sauna. The bath area changes with the seasons, giving each soak a different feeling.
The top-floor panoramic public baths, Matoya no Wan and Shima no Wan, look over Matoya Bay, passing boats, and the coastline toward Anori Cape. After bathing, you can rest in the corridor area with a tea machine and free massage chairs.
For privacy, you can use the two reservable private baths, Hana and Umi. They are available on a same-day first-come basis after check-in, with advance reservation possible only when booking through the official website.
You can also visit the foot bath and small hot spring shrine near the garden open-air bath, then enjoy the post-bath rest area. Homemade herb tea and handmade sweets are served there during the afternoon and evening hours.
