Overview
Yuttari-no-Sato Inaka brings you to Hirugami Onsen in Achi, Nagano, an area known for smooth alkaline hot spring water, mountain scenery, and some of Japan’s best-known stargazing experiences. The ryokan sits in the center of the hot spring village, close to morning market walks, footbaths, Achi Shrine, and the night-sky tours around Heavens Sonohara.
This is a good stay when you want a lively onsen ryokan with plenty to enjoy inside the building. You can check in from early afternoon, soak in 19 bathing spaces, choose between buffet dining and seasonal kaiseki, relax in Japanese-style rooms, try table tennis or karaoke, spend time in the lounge, and use the ryokan as a base for Achi’s starry sky, Hanamomo peach blossoms, and Southern Shinshu sightseeing.
Accommodation
Yuttari-no-Sato Inaka offers Japanese-style, Japanese-Western, barrier-free Western, open-air bath, and large group room options. The rooms are split between the Main Building and Hinoki Building, with mountain-side and river-side views depending on the room type.
The Hinoki Building Japanese room with open-air bath is the most private room choice. It has a 16-tatami layout, a river-side setting, and a private outdoor bath. The room bath is not hot spring water, but it gives you a quiet bathing space without going to the shared bath area.
The 14-tatami Japanese rooms give you more space for families or small groups, while the 10-tatami Japanese rooms offer a simpler classic tatami stay. The Japanese-Western rooms combine beds with tatami space, making them useful when you want easier sleeping with a ryokan feeling. The barrier-free Western room has a step-free design, beds, and features that support easier movement.
For larger groups, the Hinoki Building large room with karaoke gives you 32 tatami mats, space for bigger gatherings, and a private karaoke room inside the room. This room suits you well when you want a group stay with built-in entertainment.
All rooms are non-smoking, and smoking areas are placed on each floor. Room baths are not hot springs. Rooms include practical items such as TV, refrigerator, kettle, tea set, hair dryer, washlet toilet, towels, yukata, tabi socks, and bath items.
Dining
Dining at Yuttari-no-Sato Inaka gives you two main styles: buffet dining and seasonal kaiseki. The ryokan is known as the only buffet-style dining property in Hirugami Onsen, making it especially useful for families, groups, and stays where you want more freedom at mealtime.
The buffet includes Japanese, Western, and Chinese dishes, with crab legs, Shinshu salmon, vegetables from the ryokan’s own farm, local sake, desserts, and warm dishes prepared for a wide range of tastes. Live-kitchen dishes may include steak, tempura, and seasonal local cooking, so you can enjoy freshly prepared items without a formal course-meal pace.
If you prefer a quieter meal, the ryokan also offers seasonal kaiseki. This option focuses on carefully prepared dishes using Shinshu ingredients and seasonal flavors. Lunch buffet and day-use meal plans may also be available depending on the day and plan.
The meal areas include large buffet spaces and dining rooms suited to group stays, family stays, and more relaxed meals. The buffet style makes it easy to choose what you want, while the kaiseki option gives you a more traditional ryokan meal.
Onsen and Wellness
Yuttari-no-Sato Inaka uses Hirugami Onsen water, known for its smooth, slightly thick feel on the skin. The spring quality is alkaline simple hot spring water, classified as hypotonic and alkaline, with a pH of 9.8. The water is clear and gentle, and it has long been loved as a beauty-style bath.
The bath area includes 19 bathing spaces, with seven garden open-air baths, four indoor baths, eight footbaths, a sauna, and a private family bath. The garden open-air baths include a hinoki bath, standing bath, rock bath, seasonal bath, waterfall bath, sauna area, and footbath area. The indoor bath area includes a large bath, bubble bath, reclining bath, and washing areas.
The open-air bath areas switch between men and women by time, so you can enjoy different bathing spaces during your stay. The sauna is available on both men’s and women’s sides. The footbath area looks toward the Achi River and is available outside the winter closure period.
The spring is associated with support for rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, lower back pain, neuralgia, frozen shoulder, bruises, cold sensitivity, circulation concerns, lower digestive function, mild high blood pressure, impaired glucose tolerance, stress-related symptoms, recovery after illness, fatigue recovery, and general health promotion.
The private family bath is available by advance reservation or same-day arrangement when open. It is not hot spring water, but it gives you a private bathing space with barrier-free consideration.
Guests with Tattoos
Yuttari-no-Sato Inaka has shared public hot spring baths. Tattoos should be fully covered with designated cover stickers before using the shared bathing areas. If your tattoo cannot be fully covered, use the private family bath instead. The private family bath is not hot spring water and requires reservation.
