Overview

Wellness Forest Nasu brings you into the cool air of the Nasu Highlands, where the mood feels closer to a countryside manor than a standard resort hotel. The building takes inspiration from British aristocratic villas, with European-style interiors, a garden court, and views toward the natural scenery of Nasu.

You stay here for space, hot spring bathing, French-style dining, and an easy resort rhythm. Spend the day sightseeing, playing golf, or relaxing with your dog, then return for a source-fed bath, a warm meal, and a quiet night in the highlands. The atmosphere feels elegant without becoming stiff, which makes the stay easy to enjoy whether you come as a couple, family, or with your pet.

Accommodation

You can choose from 47 non-smoking rooms across three main styles: European Rooms, Oriental Rooms, and Royal Garden Court rooms. The European Rooms feel like a classic British manor, with imported English furnishings and a more formal, old-world mood. Room types include European Twin, European Moderate Twin, Quartet, and a 5th-floor European Suite.

The Oriental Rooms bring in a Bali-inspired atmosphere, with warmer tones and a relaxed resort feeling. These include Japanese-Western twin and double rooms, as well as Western-style twin and double rooms. The Japanese-Western layouts give you more flexibility, especially when you want both beds and floor space.

Royal Garden Court rooms have a richer British style and all come with terraces. You can choose from a Suite with mist sauna, Junior room, or Double room. These rooms feel more private and open, making them a good choice when you want to spend more time indoors.

If you travel with your dog or cat, you can book one of the 6 pet-friendly rooms in the European building. Pet-friendly room types include Moderate Twin and Quartet rooms. Pet items in the room include food bowls, toilet sheets, a cage, sticky roller, walking etiquette bags, paw wipes, and deodorizing spray.

Room amenities include TV, refrigerator, electric kettle, telephone, tea set, hair dryer, bath, washlet toilet, air conditioning and heating, humidifying air purifier, body soap, shampoo, conditioner, towels, bath towels, and in-room wear. Check-in starts at 3:00 PM, and check-out is by 11:00 AM.

Dining

Dinner at Wellness Forest Nasu is served at Restaurant La Frenoy, which faces the garden court. The meal focuses on casual French cuisine using local and seasonal ingredients, so you can enjoy a course dinner that feels polished but still relaxed.

The dinner menu centers on Tochigi wagyu roast beef, along with seasonal meat dishes and French-style courses that change with ingredient availability. Example dishes may include appetizers, pasta, soup, fish, salad, meat dishes, dessert, and coffee or tea. The menu may change depending on the season and supply, which keeps the meal connected to the time of year.

Breakfast is served as a Japanese and Western buffet. You can start the day with omelets, fresh vegetables, warm dishes, and lighter items before heading out to explore Nasu or returning to the bath for a slower morning.

After dinner and bathing, you can also enjoy complimentary Yonaki Soba, the late-night noodle service known across Kyoritsu Resort properties. It is a small but comforting way to end the night.

Low-allergen meals can be requested in advance. If you need this service, please contact the hotel before your stay so the kitchen can prepare properly.

Onsen and Wellness

The hot spring experience is one of the strongest reasons to stay here. Wellness Forest Nasu uses its own source, Amabara no Yu, for all hot spring baths. The water is supplied in a free-flowing style, with added water and heating for comfort. The spring quality is sodium-chloride, bicarbonate, and sulfate, with a weakly alkaline feel that is gentle on the skin.

The large public bath includes indoor baths, open-air baths, and dry saunas for both men and women. The baths do not rotate between genders. The large bath is available from 4:00 AM to 11:00 AM and from 1:00 PM to 2:00 AM, giving you plenty of time for both night and morning bathing. The sauna closes from 1:00 AM to 5:00 AM, and there is no cold-water bath.

You can also enjoy 4 private baths in “Mori no Kaze.” Each has its own atmosphere. “Mei” is a cave-style bath with a darker, more meditative mood. “Rin” has a simple, graceful design. “Soh” uses large rock features for a stronger natural feeling. “Ki” has a barrier-free tub. Most private baths are free to use when available and do not require a reservation. “Mei” is the exception: it is reservation-based, paid, and can also be used with pets.

The hot spring is associated with relief from neuralgia, muscle pain, joint pain, frozen shoulder, bruises, sprains, sensitivity to cold, fatigue recovery, and general health promotion.

Guests with tattoos

If you have tattoos, please do not use the large public bath. You can use the free private baths or the bath in your room instead.

Facilities

Wellness Forest Nasu has the feel of a full resort, with a European-style lobby, Restaurant La Frenoy, large public baths, 4 private baths, a shop, and a small-dog natural grass dog run. The shop is open during the day and evening, giving you a place to browse souvenirs and small travel items during your stay.

The 25 Nasu Golf Garden sits directly in front of the hotel. This resort course uses a rare two-way style, where one hole can be played in two directions, giving the golf experience a distinctive layout. Golf play is available during daytime hours, and early-morning play may be available in season.

You can also enjoy useful stay services such as welcome drinks in the lobby lounge, in-room samue clothing, a bath basket with towels for hot spring visits, post-bath ice treats, and late-night Yonaki Soba. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the building and in rooms. Parking is available on site.

Please note that the Oriental building does not have an elevator or escalator, so you need to use stairs if you stay there. The hotel does not have barrier-free rooms.

Activities

Your stay can be as active or as quiet as you want. You can play golf at 25 Nasu Golf Garden, relax in the hot springs, move between the private baths, spend time with your dog at the dog run, or simply enjoy the slower pace of the highlands.

The Nasu area is also easy to explore by car. You can visit cafés, museums, farms, shops, scenic viewpoints, and family-friendly attractions, then return to the hotel for dinner and a hot spring bath. In winter, the hotel recommends winter tires or chains because snow and icy roads are possible from around December to March.
