Overview

Apartment & Glamping Mori no Kaze offers a quiet nature retreat in Higashiizu’s Shirata area, surrounded by forest, fresh air, and starry night skies. The stay centers on simple pleasures: natural hot springs, outdoor time, private meals, slow mornings, and space away from daily noise.

This is not a formal ryokan or a large resort. Mori no Kaze feels more like a relaxed forest hideaway, with apartment-style rooms, glamping domes, a private hot spring source, an outdoor hot spring pool, BBQ areas, and wellness spaces. The rhythm here stays easy and unhurried. Soak, eat, rest, walk, look up at the stars, and let the setting do the work.

Accommodation

Apartment stays offer four room types: maisonette Japanese-Western rooms, maisonette Japanese rooms, Western rooms, and Japanese rooms. The larger maisonette Japanese-Western room suits families and groups, with an LDK, a 6-tatami Japanese room, a Western room with a semi-double bed, and a spacious Japanese room on the second floor. The maisonette Japanese room also works well for shared stays, with an LDK on the first floor and two 6-tatami Japanese rooms upstairs.

The Western room gives two people a simple, roomy space with a double bed, while the 6-tatami Japanese room keeps the stay compact and traditional. Room facilities include a mini kitchen, TV, air conditioning and heating, refrigerator, kettle, hair dryer, cookware, tableware, and Wi-Fi. Towels, toothbrushes, shampoo, conditioner, and body soap are also prepared.

The glamping domes offer a more outdoor-focused stay while keeping the comfort of a proper room. KIRA sleeps up to four people with one double bed and two single beds, plus a private bath, toilet, wash area, kitchen, and deck. SORA sleeps up to five people with two double beds and one single bed, and adds a private barrel sauna and cold bath on the deck. Both domes have air conditioning and heating, so the forest setting stays comfortable across the seasons.

Dining

Dining at Mori no Kaze stays flexible and relaxed. The on-site dining space, Hidamari Salon Yururi, serves handmade food that focuses on natural flavour and simple comfort. Lunch includes set meals, udon, soba, pasta, curry rice, and other easy dishes suited to a relaxed day on the property.

For overnight meals, the inn prepares homestyle Shokado bento-style meals at Yururi. Dinner may include seasonal fish sashimi, fried dishes, simmered dishes, salad, dressed vegetables, rice, soup, pickles, and dessert. Breakfast offers a gentle Japanese-style start with grilled fish, simmered dishes, egg, salad, rice, miso soup, and pickles.

BBQ adds a more social way to enjoy the stay. Bring preferred ingredients and cook outdoors, or reserve ingredient sets in advance through Yururi. The glamping domes also work especially well for private deck dining, with space to eat outside while staying close to nature.

Onsen and Wellness

Mori no Kaze draws from its own Shirata Onsen source. This chloride spring warms the body deeply and helps keep that warmth after bathing, making it especially satisfying after time outdoors. The main hot spring baths are available in the afternoon and evening, then again in the morning.

The outdoor hot spring pool uses natural hot spring water from the private source and stays open year-round from morning until sunset. It does not have lighting, so daytime use suits it best. The pool gives the stay a more playful, open-air feel, especially when shared with family or friends.

A semi-open-air jacuzzi bath is available by reservation. Fine bubbles, fresh air, and soft night lighting create a more private bathing experience, though the jacuzzi itself is not hot spring water. Glamping stays include free jacuzzi use, while apartment stays require an added fee.

SORA adds another wellness layer with its private barrel sauna and cold bath. The combination of sauna, cold water, forest air, and deck space creates a simple but memorable reset in nature.

Guests with tattoos

Private facilities, such as the glamping sauna in SORA and the reservable jacuzzi, may offer more privacy depending on the stay plan.

Facilities

The property keeps the experience focused on nature, bathing, dining, and rest. The main facilities include natural hot spring baths, an outdoor hot spring pool, a semi-open-air jacuzzi bath, BBQ spaces, the dining area Hidamari Salon Yururi, and the beauty salon Yururi.

The beauty salon offers treatments such as haircuts, hand massage, foot massage, facial care, décolleté lymph massage, and foot-pressure lymph massage by advance reservation. This adds a gentle wellness option for longer stays or slow afternoons.

Rooms and glamping domes include kitchen-related equipment, tableware, Wi-Fi, and basic amenities, making the stay easy for self-catering or simple meals. The entire property is non-smoking, with smoking allowed only in designated areas. Because the property sits in a natural setting, insects may appear in warmer months, and mosquito coils or insect repellent are available when needed.

Activities

Mori no Kaze works best when the plan stays simple. Spend the day soaking in the hot spring, floating in the outdoor hot spring pool, preparing BBQ, reading indoors, or sitting outside as the forest changes with the light. Evenings bring a quieter mood, with cool air, soft sounds from nature, and clear skies when the weather cooperates.

The surrounding Higashiizu area adds easy outings when the day calls for more movement. Nearby options include Izu Animal Kingdom, Atagawa Tropical & Alligator Garden, Kawazu cherry blossoms, iZoo, Izu Granpal Park, Kawazu Seven Waterfalls, and Inatori Hosono Highland. The property gives quick access to nature, animals, flowers, waterfalls, and coastal scenery without turning the stay into a busy sightseeing schedule.

Additional features

Apartment & Glamping Mori no Kaze suits stays built around nature, hot springs, BBQ, and quiet time. The apartment rooms work well for longer stays, families, and groups that want space and kitchen facilities. The glamping domes bring more of an outdoor mood, especially SORA with its private sauna and cold bath.

Check-in starts at 15:00. Check-out is at 10:00 for apartment stays and 11:00 for glamping stays. The setting, facilities, and pace make Mori no Kaze a strong choice for a relaxed Higashiizu retreat where the forest, hot spring water, and open sky shape the whole experience.
