Dantoukan Kikunoya has rooms with open air baths as well ad dedicated rooms for those who like to travel with their pets. There are special rooms with semi-open air baths with natural onsen water. These special rooms overlook Lake Biwa.

The rooms which are pets friendly are the most popular. Some of them come with special open air hot spring baths. These rooms also have dog friendly amenities like a hands-free dryer, cage, lead hook, and cleaning tools for dogs. The room is furnished with materials that are safe for pets.

Dining

Dantoukan Kikunoya serves kaiseki cuisine, prepared with seasonal local ingredients. Guests staying in the Kasho room can dine in their room, enjoying freshly prepared dishes like Omi beef, seasonal vegetables, and local lake fish. For groups of five or more, a private restaurant room is available.

Omi beef specialties: Enjoy shabu-shabu, steak, or sushi made from Shiga’s renowned Omi beef.
Seasonal delights: Dishes change according to the season, with offerings such as bamboo shoots in spring, sweetfish in summer, and matsutake mushrooms in autumn.

Onsen & Wellness

Guests can relax in the ryokan’s natural hot springs, which have been renowned for over 1200 years. The alkaline waters are beneficial for skin health and fatigue recovery. The ryokan features:

Women’s large bath called Shigaraki no Yu.
Women’s open air bath Koto no yu.
Men’s large bath Biwa no Yu.

Private Chateyutsu Onsen Outdoor bath “Hikaru-dono” which can be reserved for a fee for 60 minutes at a time.

Guests with tattoos can freely use the private baths in their rooms, or book the private Chateyutsu Onsen Outdoor bath “Hikaru-dono”.
