Onsen and Wellness

The baths at TAOYA Akiu offer an elevated onsen experience. The hot spring water, once used by the Imperial family, flows into large indoor baths and open-air rock baths surrounded by trees and waterfalls. Relax as the sounds of wind and water blend with the scent of wood.

Public baths: 3:00 p.m. – midnight / 5:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.

Saunas: 3:00 p.m. – midnight / 7:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.

Open-air baths include:

• “Kazenone”: With a wooden roof and views of the forest
• “Takinone”: Illuminated at night with a garden waterfall as your backdrop

Indoor baths feature:

• Wide stone and marble tubs
• Two temperatures to suit your preference

Private onsen baths are also available for families or couples. You can reserve one of four rooms at check-in:

• “Miyabi” and “Hibiki” (up to 4 people)
• “Shizuku” and “Shiori” (up to 2 people)

Each offers a unique experience, from natural rock tubs to wooden interiors, and all use pure, non-recirculated hot spring water.

The spring’s sodium-calcium chloride composition is known to improve circulation, relieve joint pain, and soothe skin conditions.

Guests with Tattoos

If you have tattoos, you may not use the public baths unless you completely cover your tattoos with special seal sheets available at the front desk (sold separately).
