Yudanaka-Shibu Onsen, located in the northern part of Nagano Prefecture, is a charming hot spring village famed for its deep connection with Japanese history and traditional onsen culture. This area comprises two main onsen towns: Yudanaka, known for its modern facilities, and Shibu, a quaint, old-world village with nine public bathhouses that have been used by samurai and travelers for centuries.
Beyond the hot springs, Yudanaka-Shibu Onsen is also famous for being the gateway to the Jigokudani Monkey Park, where snow monkeys can be observed bathing in natural hot springs.
