Overview
Atami Terrace Villa – Sauna & Onsen gives you a private one-building stay in the hills above Atami Station. You stay in a renovated traditional Japanese house that is about 100 years old, with source-flowing hot spring water, a private hinoki sauna, a water bath, a wooden deck, a terrace, and wide views over Atami. The villa sits at 12-7 Momoyamacho, about 5 minutes by car from Atami Station or about 10 minutes on foot, though the walk includes slopes and stairs, so a taxi is the easier choice when you arrive with luggage.
This is not a standard hotel or a full-service ryokan. You stay in a private old house where the appeal comes from space, privacy, bathing, sauna time, views, and the character of the building itself. The interiors have been renovated for comfort, but the house still keeps the feeling of an older Japanese home. You come here when you want a private Atami retreat with personality, not a polished hotel setting.
Accommodation
You have the whole house to yourself. The villa includes two bedrooms, a living room, a service room that can also be used for sleeping, a counter kitchen, a study, a bathroom with shower, a washroom, a toilet, a terrace, a garden path, and a separate sauna building. The space can sleep up to 6 people, with one king bed, two single beds, and futons used in the service room when needed.
The living room feels bright and relaxed, with sunlight from the garden, tatami flooring, a sofa, a TV, a Bluetooth speaker, and Wi-Fi suitable for workation use. You can sit here after bathing, share meals, work quietly, or simply look out toward Atami. Power outlets are set around the sofa area, so the space works well if you want to stay longer and mix rest with remote work.
The bedrooms and study give you flexibility for a couple, family, or small group. The main sleeping setup includes one king bed and two single beds, with extra futons available for a 6-person stay. Amenities include toothbrushes, combs, a hair dryer, and towels. Cosmetics are not prepared, so you should bring your own skincare items.
Dining
Atami Terrace Villa is a self-catering stay, so meals are not prepared for you. Instead, you can use the kitchen and dining spaces at your own pace. The kitchen includes a microwave, refrigerator, gas stove, dishes, and cooking tools, so you can bring ingredients from Atami, cook simple meals, or enjoy food picked up from the station area.
One of the most memorable dining spaces is the old-book Bar and Dining area. The house still keeps books connected to its long history, and part of that collection has been used to create an antique-style bar atmosphere around the dining counter. You can eat there, enjoy drinks you bring with you, listen to music at a respectful volume, and settle into the mood of the old house.
Onsen and Wellness
The villa’s bath uses 100% source-flowing hot spring water from Atami Momoyamacho. You can enjoy the hot spring in a private setting, without using a shared public bath or following a public bathing schedule. This makes the bath one of the main reasons to stay here, especially if you want to soak in the morning, after sightseeing, or late at night.
The sauna sits in a separate building outside the main house. Inside, it is made with hinoki wood and has space for about 4 people at a time. The sauna is electric, so you can turn it on and adjust the temperature yourself. After heating your body, you can use the water bath and rest outside on the wooden deck. The separate sauna building does not have its own changing room, so you should plan your sauna time with that in mind.
Guests with tattoos
If you have tattoos, you can enjoy the hot spring bath and sauna in your own private rental space. You do not need to use a shared public bath, so you can bathe and relax without concern over public-bath tattoo rules.
Facilities
Atami Terrace Villa gives you a private hot spring bath, separate hinoki sauna, water bath, wooden deck, terrace, small garden, living room, two bedrooms, service room, study, counter kitchen, bathroom with shower, washroom, toilet, Wi-Fi, TV, Bluetooth speaker, kitchen equipment, dishes, refrigerator, microwave, gas stove, towels, hair dryer, toothbrushes, and basic bath items. You can use the property freely except for areas marked for storage or staff use.
The villa uses self check-in with a keypad, so your arrival feels private and simple. Check-in is from 3:00 PM, and check-out is before 11:00 AM. Pets are not allowed, and quiet hours run from 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM, which helps keep the hillside setting calm for the surrounding area.
Activities
You can spend much of your stay inside the villa. Soak in the hot spring, use the sauna, cool down on the deck, read in the old-book bar, work from the living room, or sit on the terrace with the Atami view in front of you. From the open terrace, you can look across Atami, and on clear days you may see as far as Hatsushima. On Atami fireworks nights, the terrace gives you a wide view of the display over the city and bay.
When you want to explore, Atami Station is close by, with shopping streets, cafés, restaurants, and easy transport around the city. Atami also offers classic sightseeing such as Atami Sun Beach, Kiunkaku, MOA Museum of Art, Kinomiya Shrine, and coastal viewpoints. The city’s sea fireworks festival is held several times through the year, so you can match your stay with a fireworks date when your schedule allows.
Additional features
Atami Terrace Villa suits you when you want a private, character-rich stay rather than a hotel with shared facilities. You get an old Japanese house, source-flowing hot spring water, a hinoki sauna, a water bath, a terrace, a small garden, sea and city views, and enough space for up to 6 people.
This villa works especially well for slow stays, sauna trips, workations, small-group getaways, and Atami fireworks nights. You arrive, close the door behind you, and enjoy Atami through warm water, wood, fresh air, views, and time that belongs fully to you.
