Overview

Stay at AWAUMI Fuji Kawaguchiko Resort at the foot of Mt. Fuji, around six minutes by taxi or 18 minutes on foot from Kawaguchiko Station. Opened in July 2023, this villa and glamping resort places 16 private accommodation units around an outdoor pool inspired by the surface of Lake Kawaguchi.

You can choose between a spacious villa, a dog-friendly villa, a dome tent, and a glass-fronted cabin. Every unit includes its own natural hot spring bath, sauna, food-preparation space, and all-weather BBQ area, giving you privacy throughout your stay.

The 7,500-square-metre grounds also include a wine lounge, poolside seating, outdoor living areas, and fire pits. You can spend the day exploring the Fuji Five Lakes area or remain inside the resort for private bathing, sauna sessions, BBQ dining, and wine beside the pool.

Accommodation

Choose from four Suite Villas, two Dog Villas, six Dome Tents, and four Private Cabins. Each option gives you a different balance of indoor space and outdoor living.

The Suite Villa is the largest room type, with 115 square metres divided between a 95-square-metre interior and a 20-square-metre garden. You have a spacious living room, two semi-double beds, a tatami area where futons can be prepared, and a kitchen with an IH stove.

A glass-enclosed BBQ room lets you cook in any weather without bringing food smells into the main living space. Beside the rear garden, you have a private natural hot spring bath and a hinoki cypress sauna with space for up to four people. The villa also includes a separate shower room and a large powder area with two washbasins.

The two Dog Villas give you 71 square metres of indoor space and an 80-square-metre private dog run. Inside, you have two semi-double beds, a living room, kitchen, private hot spring bath, hinoki sauna, shower room, and enclosed BBQ area.

Pet equipment includes a cage, food bowl, water tray, pet sheets, deodorizing wipes, deodorizing spray, and a pet-waste bin. Only the Dog Villas accept dogs, and you need to provide proof of rabies vaccination.

The Dome Tent gives you a seven-metre-wide sleeping and living space with Nordic-inspired furnishings and two single beds. Futons can be added when you need more sleeping space.

Each dome has its own separate facilities, including a private natural hot spring bath, hinoki sauna, shower room, powder area, toilet, and all-weather BBQ room. Heating and air conditioning let you enjoy the glamping experience throughout the year without giving up indoor comfort.

The Private Cabin is surrounded by large glass windows and opens onto a private deck. Four single beds make it well suited to stays with family or friends, while the outdoor living space places the pool directly in front of you.

This is the only room type with a separate cold-plunge bath beside the outdoor tent sauna. A private hinoki bathing room holds natural hot spring water, keeping the onsen separate from the cold bath. You also have an enclosed BBQ area that you can use in wet weather.

Every unit includes free Wi-Fi, heating and air conditioning, a refrigerator and freezer, microwave, electric kettle, hair dryer, tableware, cooking utensils, coffee beans, a grinder, and a dripper. Televisions are provided only in the Suite Villas and Dog Villas.

Dining

Choose a BBQ meal plan or prepare your own food using the cooking and grilling equipment in your unit. Every accommodation type has an enclosed, all-weather BBQ area with a high-powered MONARCH gas grill, so you do not need to light charcoal or clean up ash.

The current dinner menu includes Fuji-san Black Beef sirloin, Fuji Sakura pork, live abalone, ajillo, four appetizers, fresh vegetable salad, vegetable curry, and dessert. A children’s meal with foil-baked hamburger steak, spiral sausage, and salad is also available. Ingredients and dishes may change with the season and availability.

Breakfast is delivered as a hot sandwich set. It includes a hot sandwich, cherry pie, fresh vegetable salad, egg, yogurt, and juice. You can grind the coffee beans provided in your unit and prepare fresh coffee with breakfast.

When you prefer to cook independently, choose a stay without meals and bring your own ingredients. Basic cooking equipment, plates, glasses, cutlery, salt, pepper, and olive oil are provided. You may also bring additional food and drinks when you book a meal plan.

Ogino supermarket is around three minutes away on foot. Lawson is approximately five minutes away, while FamilyMart is about eight minutes away, making it easy to buy meat, vegetables, drinks, ice, and other supplies during your stay.

Onsen and Wellness

Every unit has a private bath supplied with Shurei-no-Yu, one of the natural sources within Fuji Kawaguchiko Onsen. You can use the bath at any time between check-in and check-out without making a reservation or sharing the space.

Shurei-no-Yu is an alkaline chloride spring rich in calcium and sodium. The water feels smooth against the skin, retains warmth well after bathing, and is associated with moisturizing qualities.

You can fill the bath when you are ready to soak and adjust the temperature to your preference. A reheating function also lets you keep the water warm for another bath later in the day.

Every unit includes a private Finnish-style sauna with self-löyly. You pour water over the heated sauna stones to create steam and raise the temperature inside the room.

The Suite Villas, Dog Villas, and Dome Tents have dedicated sauna rooms made with natural hinoki cypress. The Private Cabins have outdoor tent saunas instead, giving you a more open-air sauna experience.

Cooling baths and outdoor seating let you move between heat, cold water, and fresh air. The Private Cabin provides a dedicated cold-plunge tub separate from its hot spring bath, while the pool can also be used for cooling down during its operating hours.

Guests with Tattoos

You can use the natural hot spring bath, sauna, and cooling facilities when you have tattoos. Every bath and sauna belongs exclusively to your accommodation, so you do not need to enter a shared bathing area.

Facilities

The lounge gives you a comfortable place to sit beside sofas and a fire pit. From 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., you can use the complimentary drink server for wines delivered by SADOYA and selected Koshu wines. The selection includes four red wines and four white wines, along with grape juice.

At the center of the grounds, the outdoor pool measures five metres by 15 metres. The 75-square-metre pool is designed to recall the surface of Lake Kawaguchi and is reserved for overnight stays.

You can use the pool from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on your arrival day and from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. the following morning. Deck chairs around the water give you space to sit with a drink, read, or cool down after using your sauna.

The outdoor living area extends around the pool with parasols, tables, chairs, and fire pits. In the evening, lighting around the grounds and flames from the fire pits create an inviting place for conversation after dinner.

Each accommodation includes an enclosed BBQ area, kitchen or food-preparation space, shower room, heated toilet, refrigerator, freezer, microwave, electric kettle, cooking equipment, and tableware. Towels, samue loungewear, slippers, toothbrushes, face wash, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash are also provided.

Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the grounds. Staff remain at reception from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., and you receive an emergency contact number for assistance outside these hours.

Activities

Begin your morning with fresh coffee in your room, followed by a private hot spring bath or sauna. During the day, you can swim in the outdoor pool, rest on a deck chair, or enjoy wine and grape juice in the lounge.

Your enclosed BBQ space lets you cook throughout the year, even when it rains. In the evening, you can eat at your own pace before sitting beside the outdoor fire pits.

A private observation deck gives you an open view of Mt. Fuji when the weather is clear. The view changes with the morning light, passing clouds, and evening sky, making the deck a useful place for photographs during your stay.

Beyond the resort, the Mt. Fuji Panoramic Ropeway is around six minutes away by car or approximately 22 minutes on foot. From the upper station, you can look across Lake Kawaguchi and toward Mt. Fuji.

You can also visit Kitaguchi Hongu Fuji Sengen Shrine, the Narusawa Ice Cave, Oshino Hakkai, the Kawaguchiko Music Forest Museum, and the autumn Maple Corridor. Fuji-Q Highland is approximately 15 minutes away by car, while Fujiten Snow Resort is around 20 minutes away.

Additional Features

Check-in begins at 3:00 p.m. Suite Villas and Dog Villas have an 11:00 a.m. check-out, while Dome Tents and Private Cabins have a 10:00 a.m. check-out. Early check-in, late check-out, and pool use outside your stay are not available.

Every accommodation is non-smoking. You can smoke only in the designated area.

One complimentary parking space is provided beside each unit. Additional vehicles require prior arrangements. By car, the resort is around ten minutes from either Kawaguchiko Interchange or Fujiyoshida Interchange.

You can reach Kawaguchiko Station from Shinjuku by highway bus or direct limited express train. From the station, the resort is approximately six minutes by taxi or 18 minutes on foot.
